Not back on the wagon...this time it's for me

I could say I've been on or off the weight gain/lost wagon for my entire teen and adult life. I'm back. But not because I want to make a change to look good for an occasion or to wear a particular dress (although both of those things are great reasons). I'm back for me. Plain and simple.

I'm a divorced mom of three young ones (the boys are 5 and baby girl is 3.5). Since my separation and divorce last year, I lost a chunk of weight the unhealthy way because of all the stress. Now, I'm working on exercise and toning up! I've always been slightly overweight but after having my children and not taking care of myself, I got to be the largest I'd ever been. I did not like it, and I don't want to go back. I still have some weight I'd like to lose along the way. I also quit smoking so that doesn't help things.

I could use some support, motivation, random banter, anything to help me along this journey, as I have decided to make a change for me and make myself a priority. I'm already an "older" mom and I don't want to be the "older, out of shape, fat" mom.

Thanks...and good luck with the rest of your journeys.

First, congrats on making the change for you. I'm not entirely sure why, but that's really hard for a lot of people (myself included) to do! Most reasons to lose weight are perfectly good reasons, but I think that one is the best. :)

I'm back on the wagon for the millionth time myself- and finally got around to doing it for myself as well. I eat a plant-based diet and am still in nursing school, so that's kind of a challenge, but definitely worth it for me!

I'm definitely game for support or whatever you need! The bigger the support system, the easier this seems to be! Good luck on your journey as well... we're all going to rock this! ^.^

Congratulations on making a great first step! Making the changes the healthy way and doing it for yourself is a great lesson for your kids too. I'm also an older mom of 3 (also with twins) and totally understand not wanting to be the older, out of shape mom.
Good luck to you, and feel free to add me so we can keep up the motivation and banter....

I'm new here too and can really relate to all of you. I've been going through a divorce for over a year and half (still not completely final ...). I am 36yo and have a 5yo son. I too lost some weight during the early part of the divorce, which actually felt great. But 10 lbs has crept back on, putting me that much further from my goal. I am a nurse - the 12 hr shifts and 30 mile commute each way make it hard for me to do focus on anything other that survival on those days ;) I would love to get and give support to also make the change for me (and my son who deserves to have a fit, healthy happy mommy).
