Hey all, I was wondering if it is bad that I go over my daily protein goal that MFP set for me.
usually my calories and fat intake are usually under my daily recommendation, but my protein goes over, would that cause me to gain weight, even though I stay under my calorie and fat goals?

Not 100% sure, but the book I'm currently reading says to consume half of what you weight in grams. So if you're around 200, you should eat 100 grams of protein a day. That's what I'm aiming for since I'm in the 190's. It's a book by Bob Harper called Skinny Rules. He tells you to eat protein or stay hungry.

    1 to 1.5 gr protein per 1lb lean body weight...Ie if your 200 lbs carrying 30% Body fat...you`d need 140 gr protein a day..minimum.

honestly I think the 1+ protein/lb is mainly for people who are putting on weight and hitting weights hard. if you are cutting weight and doing cardio, .5-.7 g/lb should be more than enough.

That would not cause a weight gain unless you are one of the rare people who can't process protein efficiently. Around 85% of the population processes it more efficiently than they process carbs or fats, so I wouldn't worry about it too much.

Plus MFP sets the protein number crazy low.

no, MFP sets it pretty low. you can change your macro percentages in 'goals', 'change goals', 'custom'. 40/30/30 suits me as i was always over my fat and protein before.

and no, there is no way you'll gain weight if you're over on protein but not over on calories :D
