Biking?

Just bought a really cute cruiser bike and I have been biking 9-12 miles a day. Was wondering if I could use this as my cardio since I have really found it much more enjoyable and convenient than running? Not sure if it burns about the same calories as running...I do tend to bike farther and double the time than I would if I were running so maybe it evens out?

I bike to work and you better believe I count it

I have a heart rate monitor, speed/cadence sensor and computer that does the calorie tracking for me.

There's no decent way of telling if it burns the same as running for you unless you wear a decent HRM and put it to the test.

Running burns more calories in general based on the same intensity. I however prefer biking. I can go different routs, go farther & faster than running & tend to challenge myself more. I have to run on a treadmill because of the impact on asphalt punishes me. Whatever is more enjoyable & you continue to do is what's right for you though.

I bike and I can tell you I can burn more on a bike than I can running, but I hate to run.

Absolutely... just figure out your average MPH and you can log it that way. Or you can get a heart rate monitor if you want a more accurate count of your calories burned.
Biking is my main form of cardio too. I love to see others getting into the pedaling scene!

Good luck and enjoy your ride!
