Auditory Processing Disorder. My doc thinks I might have this. My hearing tests are always "normal", but I have a hard time understanding speech when there is background noise - it really interferes with work. I'm currently undergoing more testing and an hoping that somebody out there knows something about what treatment involves.

Would love any feedback. - Thx:flowerforyou:

Hey, I have that same problem. I'm always considered "hard of hearing" and when I was younger my mom would have me do these tests but they turned out normal so she just blamed it on "selective hearing" But to this day, I still have that problem. I havn't any advice for you though...sorry!!!

My 4 year old son is still not "talking" as he should. Out of curiosity I looked up this subject and it gave some symptoms that sound simular to what my son is going through......Hmm, wonder if I should ask his doctor about that? Thanks for sharing and hope you find your answers.

Well, thanks anyways guys. Every site I've looked this up on seems to assocoate it with head trauma or autism. I am not autistic, am (humbly) of above-average intelegence on standardized I.Q. tests and have never had a head injury. I did, however, have a traumatic 3-day-long birth which may have deprived the 'ol brain of some oxygen for a while.

It's just sooooooo frustrating at work! I am a lab manager/instructor for a dental hygiene school and the students all wear masks so I can't read their lips. It absolutely drives me BONKERS!
    Thanks again.:ohwell:
