Does drinking diet pop affect your weight if you don't increase the amount of calories your eating?

I've read that diet pop increases cortisol which causes you to store fat around your belly....but that's just what i read at a cursory glance. i know that i feel better without pop!0

I know for me personally, times 2 no less, that cutting diet soda made a HUGE difference. I LOVE fountain Diet Pepsi..I could drink it all day. Very sad  Anyhow, I backed off and my stomach has flattened and dropped inches and my weight has gone down as well. I don't have that bloated feeling and now it just doesn't taste as good. I would say give it like 2 weeks without and see if YOU notice a difference in anything...yup, that's my suggestion0

It, by itself, can't increase your weight. Even with the sodium content you would have to drink lots and lots to get water retention from it. However, the carbon can cause bloating. Also there are studies out that indicate that the fake sugar actually fakes out your brain and body. It gets ready for an influx of calories, but never gets them, potentially causing cravings and hunger that can wreak havok on your diet..
I don't drink any pop very often anymore, but when I go to Mickey D's I have to have a Diet Dr. Pepper from their fountain. If it is a rare treat, no harm probably. Soda is horrible for you - diet or regular. So not recommended for daily consumption - in my own humble opinion of course! :flowerforyou:0 -
I'm one of those people that hasn't noticed ANY difference from drinking or not drinking diet soda. I was an addict for sure when it came to Diet coke. Now all I drink is homemade green iced tea. I don't feel any different and I haven't seen any difference when it comes to how flat my stomach is and I stopped drinking Diet Coke like maniac in February.0

honestly it has been 5 days (yes i am counting) since i had diet soda... I LOVE DIET COKE/ PEPSI... and I feel SO much better... alot of it may be that I am drinking more water to replace the soda... I haven't lost anymore weight... but my waist has lost 2 inches....already !!!! CRAZY! I know it is hard but try to go a week w/o it... right now we are doing a Clean Eating (Step-by-Step Challenge) and this week it is cutting out the soft drinks etc... I quit Diet Coke in January but I do like to have it everyonce and a while I went 3 months without a drop of diet coke but lately I am wanting it all the time... I have probably had one everyother day for like a week and I just want to make sure it won't be effecting my weightloss at all...
What about carbonated water? Same thing with the bloating though I am sure right?0 -
It really depends on the person - it could cause bloating. But won't in everyone. Some once in a while wouldn't hurt. I enjoy me some flavored carbonated water once in a blue moon!!0
