I am 28 year old and am in the process of losing 30 pounds. I am concerned that I will be left with "flab." :( Does anyone know or can enlighten me at all about what to do to make sure this doesnt happen?? I would really appreciate it! Thanks!

If your thinking that after losing 30lbs you will be left with a flap of skin, dont worry unless you have it sucked out that wont happen, because natural weight lose takes time, that time gives your body time to adjust (tightening skin etc). No worries. Im in the same boat 30lbs by Sept 1st

Bump to hear peoples responses but at a guess I would say don't try to lose it too quickly and incorporate strength and resistance training and not just all cardio.

I have the same concerns about my belly.

Im not trying to lose it quickly, but I have already lost 7 pounds in one week! I dont know why it is coming off so quickly. I do have myself on a 1200 calorie a day diet, with jogging 2 miles every day and I do squats, situps, and leg lifts every other day.

Water comes off first. and a lot of it.

Also, in the beginning, if youre really following MFP like the bible, your weight drops fast. I was losing 2-3 lbs a week. Fat was melting off. But you may slow as time goes on. You may even eventually plateau. But if you can remember this advice, keep pluggin along, and you will start losing again.

If you're losing it slowly, it shouldn't be a problem, especially at your age. Plus, 30 pounds is not that much to lose, your skin will bounce back. I lost 40 pounds when I was 24 and had no problems with loose skin -- but I was doing a lot of weight training which probably helped.

That could be one reason why you are losing the first few so fast because your BMI is about 32 and "Normal Healthy Weight" would be between 18.5-24.9

If you are concerned with anything that appears to be flabby then start doing strength training. Water intake, eating a healthy diet, and strength training will help even though your body will naturally adjust and tighten your skin up. Good luck :)

Thanks guys! I do only drink water and I havent taken on strength training. Jogging 2 miles a day is literally killing me, but Im pushing through. I so want to feel good about myself again!

I'm 5'6 and started at 209. I don't have any "flaps." As previously mentioned, losing the healthy way gives your body time to adjust.

A good lotion, dry skin has less resilience. Good nutrition for healthy skin, and if you aren't getting enough vitamins, a good multivitamin. AND trying to not loose it TOO quickly.
