Crossfit ... Anyone Obsessed With It Like Me?

Hey guys I've been on MFP for about 3 weeks and I've gone from 248 to 230 ... (I'm 6 ft 1) ... I credit by weight loss and energy boost not only to MFP but to the Crossfit.com WOD's (workout of the days) ... I'm curious if anyone on MFP uses Crossfit as their primary exercise and if so, what are your thoughts about it? Swear by it? Too intense? Too dangerous? Too Short? I personally feel as though it's the best way to workout possible ... Thoughts and comments appreciated!

I've never heard of it, but would like to know more. I walk an hour every morning, but am looking for an alternative on those days that it is too hot to walk (Texas).

I say, if it is working for you, then go for it. As long as you are balancing your nutrition with it!

I am a Crossfit Junkie! I go 4 times per week usually, then run the other days, with 1 day off. I just started using MFP again after a long hiatus. Crossfit has changed my life and I don't think I could ever go back to a regular gym!

I look at the Crossfit WODs from time to time to see if anything strikes my fancy.

The one I do and do a lot is a variant of Cindy. I go for bulk volume instead of AMRAP in a set time, and do change up the reps per circuit keeping the ratio the same, and slightly vary the exercises (chinups instead of kipping pullups, and I do the prisoner squat BW squat variant).

    The variant I do is:

    Chinups - 50 reps
    Pushups - 100 reps
    Squats - 150 reps

I always keep a 1:2:3 rep ratio. The actual Cindy workout is 5:10:15, which I do from time to time, 10 rounds. Other times I do a reverse pyramid, starting at 10:20:30, subtracting 1:2:3 reps per round (until 5:10:15).

Overall I try to hit the bulk numbers as fast as possible. I've got it under 20 minutes now, so its nearing time to up the bulk numbers. It is an awesome whole body workout that totally burns you out, I do it at the end of my strength training workouts. It is great for building anaerobic endurance; it has noticably improved my ability to power up hills when running outside.

I guess you could call me obsessed with CrossFit!! My boyfriend and I started CrossFit 2 months ago and LOVE LOVE LOVE it!! It pushes me to my limits and sometimes beyond! I think the thing I like most about CrossFit is that it is the most positive group atmosphere that lifts you up rather than tearing you down!

I'm not really seeing much "numbers on the scale" loss but in a month I've lost 3in off my waist, and 1in everywhere else. Beginning of June I'll weigh and take measurements again.

Good luck and welcome to the cult that is CrossFit!!
