Just wanted to introduce myself....even though I've been using MyFitnessPal since mid-January.
I'm Jeff, and I live in Cincinnati. Born and raised in Ohio, most of my life in northeast Ohio.
I've always been active, but about two years ago I was hired to run a sports-based website for a regional TV network. All of a sudden, I was in front of a computer 8-12 hours a day, and that led to snacking all day long. I always knew I was getting heavier, but I believed I was still in the 220-230 range.
In early January I went to the doctor for a routine thing, and they took my vitals. Blood pressure fine, temperature fine, blah blah blah. I stepped on the scale, and the nurse started sliding the weights. She had the heavy weight at 200, and slid the smaller weight all the way to the right....no dice. When she slid that heavier weight to the 250 mark, my heart sank. As she slid the smaller weight past 260, I stopped looking. I was crushed.
The next day, I signed up here. A friend of mine was already on MFP, so I joined her.
After a week of calorie-counting, I had dropped 8 pounds. It was falling off me. I started using Wii Fit to get some exercise. Basic stuff, really. In mid-February, I added running to my routine, and have been hitting the streets as often as I can.
As of this morning, I've dropped 43.3 pounds.
I'm running my first official 5k on June 2nd.
Thanks to all of you for being my support system and my daily reminder that I can do this!

Hey! I'm from Ohio too and spent my college years down in Cincy! Its hard work, but the community of MFP makes the process a bit easier. I did my first 5K last year and I've fallen off of running. But its definitely a good feeling to have!0

Wow that's fantastic! Congrats I know that when i was pregnant I was terrified of knowing my weight I wouldn't let them tell me what it was . Now five weeks after giving birth I was devastated to see my weight above 150... I know it's noel and I shouldn't be so upset but eh you could do it so can I0
