Calorie Count

Still learning with all this but I have to say I am really surprised with counting calories compared to counting carbs like I have done forever. I feel like I am eating more and the snacking always feels like I am cheating on my diet. I still am below calories everyday. Do I need to eat more?

Have you figured out your BMR? www.fit2fat.com I started with the military body fat calculator, then figured out my BMR. As long as you NEVER eat below your BMR you are good to go. You can take it a step farther and figure out your TDEE (this would be like your mintnenca calories if you wanted to stay exactly the same) and they say to subtract 10-20% dependinfg on what feels right to you. I was born and raised a carb-a-holic, so it is really the hardest thing for me to remove!! I have cut back a lot though. We are all learning here togehter!

I have lost fifty pounds. Just by changing my diet and exercising now this dreaded plateau that I have been on forever that is getting frustrating. Here is what I am learning, at least I think I am learning. I am trying anyways. I typically eat around a 1200 cal a day diet. Typically when I exercise daily I am only netting about 800 calories a day. Which is way lower than I need for my body to do its "normal processes" . So I need to eat back these calories, that I use so my body wont think its in starvation mode and hang on to all the fat stores. So what I think is.... It is a fine balance between the both, lol I am a carb junkie! So, I am trying to up my calorie intake to about 1500 to start and watch the carbs in moderation and see if that works. I have to say I am at a loss as well. I work in a program that I have dieticians and nurtitionists availible but yet to find one who will give me the time of day to look at my diet and help me... If I ever find that balance I'll let you know

If you are eating healthy, real foods such as fruits, veggies and lean meats, eat at least 1200 calories a day and feel full, you are proabably fine. I would suggest that you keep at it for a few weeks and then review things.
