I always start out strong, dropping weight well for about a month or two with regular exercise....then the self doubt and self sabbatoge sets in. Old demons from my past cme back and haunt me. It got so bad last week that I was crying at a patient's house. (I am a hospice nurse). I had to excuse myself to the bathroom to get a grip on my tears.
My mom died back in Sept and then I ran into an relative just recently that I hadn't seen since I was a child. After all the questions about how we were all doing...I was a wreck. Flooded with memories of all the abuse we went through as kids and so angry at this aunt because her husband is who got my brothers smoking pot in elementary school. We already had so many strikes against us the drugs just did my brothers in. I never got into drugs...my addiction was food. It is legal and there is a drivethru around every corner. Sometimes I would order 2 small drinks thinking it would fool the drive thru person into thinking I wasn't going to eat that food all by myself. I think the only people we fool are ourselves.
What You Eat in Private WILL Show Up in Public!!!!
After a roller coaster week of emtions I have set up an appointment with my primary MD for tomorrow and will start on some antidepressants. I will also start therapy on June 6th to addres the sexual, mental, and emotional abuse I suffered as a child. I think the only way I will ever be successful at losing weight is by addressing WHY I over eat. The food and the weight are just the symptom and product of what is going on.... The abuse is why I eat. I guess I have been trying to fill that emptiness inside with food all my life.
I hope you figure out why you are overweight and address that reason so you too can keep the weight off.

Wow! I'm amazed at your strength and your self-examination. I agree that we can be our own worst enemies! I start off strong, often, then I get bored...then I don't track my food....then I allow extra calorie snacks, etc. and on we go to weight gain again! So far, I've kept the 10 lbs off that I lost with WW (thankfully!). I really want to progress past this point, though.0
