have a feeling this might get dusty over the weekend, but I haven't had a chance to tally. so this will be a super long round. might get results up on Monday, but more likely on Tuesday.

I don't think he has tallied the results yet. Those were his choices, maybe? He'll put up a new thread when the next rounds comes up.

yup. sorry, guys. next round is upcoming. didn't get to it over holiday weekend.

(though, honestly, raging bull shouldn't have lost. de niro is absolutely amazing -- maybe his best role ever -- and I would argue it is scorsese's best work. de niro did win the oscar that year, while pesci was nominated for his supporting role. it was nominated for a total of eight academy awards, winning two.)

    * I expected Citizen Kane to lose. it was seeded high because it's a classic and it brought a lot to the table that hadn't been done before. but even as a newspaper guy ... I found it horribly boring.

Greatest Movie Of All Time: Drama/Thriller Region Second Round Results

16 Silence of the Lambs def. 1 The Godfather, 15-11

9 Rear Window def. 25 The Untouchables, 13-12

    5 Casablanca def. 12 The Shining, 13-12

    4 Schindler's List def. 13 Rocky, 19-7

19 To Kill a Mocking Bird def. 3 Citizen Kane, 15-11

6 The Godfather, Part II def. 11 Chinatown, 19-6

    10 Psycho def. 7 Goodfellas, 13-13*

15 Shawshank Redemption def. 2 Raging Bull, 22-3

    * For the first time, we got a tie. Needing a way to break it, I decided to look up each movie on AFI's top 100 movies of all time. The higher ranking got the nod. Seemed a fair way to break the tie. And Psycho, on the newest list, is 14th. Goodfellas is 92. That gives Psycho the win.

also, it needs to be noted, while Shawshank is certainly a good movie, it is 72nd on AFI's list. Raging Bull? Fourth. Right after Casablanca, which barely snuck into the next round past an AFI unranked Shining. Oh, and The Godfather? No. 2!! You guys are killing me. I think I need to start a film appreciation group on here. :)
