What do you do on the days you're not motivated?

I am overall extremely motivated to get back into shape. I've always been a runner and in good shape. Having 4 kids and the last being twins (11 weeks postpartum) sometimes I catch myself in the mirror and see my saggy/stretch mark covered belly and think, "wow, I will never get rid of that" It's depressing! I love my babies and would do it over and over again, but twins really messed up my belly! I know I may always have some loose skin and obviously the stretch marks will fade, but never disappear.....but I am going to make the best of my body! This morning I was feeling a little depressed about it, luckily I have an awesome DH who was telling me how big of a difference he sees in my belly already! What do you say to yourself when the thought of sitting on the couch with your favorite treat seems like a better idea than working out?!

awesome pic by the way, very cute twins. I tell myself just do it, get out , and get it over and done with, you'll feel better afterwards. I remind myself i want to get healthy, do the excercise then sit on the couch. I also don't let myself think about not doing it.0

I remind myself that worrying about things that I can't change (like stretchmarks) it's a waste of time. Instead, today I can make my heart healthier, I can make my muscles stronger and I can be gentle with myself and the body that I have.
Focusing on what we can do is so much healthier and encouraging!
Btw, congrats on your beautiful babies. And give yourself some time; it's only been 11 weeks!0 -
I remind myself that I didn't come THIS far to sit on the couch and ruin a perfectly good day by eating crap and feeling self pity.0

nice pic....I jsut look at pics of me at my heaviest then I think REALLY you think you want to throw it all away...then I go exercise and then I carefully portion out what ever treat it is I want...(and sometimes when all those exercise endorphins kick in I dont even want my treat...)0
-
Thanks everyone, they are pretty adorable!
I am definitely having a bit of "self pity" day. I have already done my ran today and plan to workout again, I just wish I could feel excited about it everyday! Doesn't help I'm getting very little sleep! (nursing them every 2 hours at night!)0 -
I push myself and make sure I go ahead and workout. I usually end up having a great workout.0

normally i suck it up and do my normal stuff anyway.0
-
I just... do it. Because I have to.0

Just think of how many calories you are burning producing milk for TWO babies! It took 8-9 months to put the weight on, so give yourself more than 3 months to get back in shape.
How am I going to chase these babies in a few months if I DON'T get up off my butt and workout to get healthy?0 -
My personal motivation is to PROVE to my doubting hubby that the $500 for the Y membership was worth it, and that given the correct tools, I CAN get back into shape. It may be mean, but my goal is to weigh less than hubby again-- only 16.5 pounds to go0

So true! HAHA0 -
No matter how tired I am, and tonight is one of those nights, I get up and make myself do it. Having a partner to walk with helps a lot. It's hard to tell her no! Once I get out there and we start walking/talking I forget about it and time flies. Then I'm GLAD I got off my butt and did it.
YOu can too.0 -
just count calories with two littleones its hard enough relax youll get there enjoy them while there small before they talk back personally id wait till they get on a refular sleep schedual0

on the days I'm not motivated, I work out.0
-
I say, "Boy it would sure be nice to go lay down or something right now."
And then I go work out.0 -
I always look at it as changing my life and my health, rather than my weight and body. I have three kids and need the exercise to keep up with them.0

I breastfed 3 children for a cumulative total of about 6 years!! Unfortunately, my weight did not drop off like it does for *some* people. I lost about 30 pounds from my last baby, then got stuck with about 15 pounds left0 -
I tell myself to just do it and get it over with too. But in the event I don't listen to myself, I really try to get moving in the house with some cleaning. I also try to really pay attention to my intake on those days too. Because my only real exercise is walking, rainy days are hard for me.0
-
Yeah, breastfeeding did nothing for me either. The weight came off AFTER I weaned!
As for motivation - I go into the bathroom, look in the mirror and find something I LOVE about myself. Right now, it's my shoulders. I dropped 5 lbs this past month and I think I lost it all from my upper shoulders! Anyways, my stomach still sucks but my shoulders are ripped. So I just look at those and be happy....the rest of it will get there eventually0 -

Definitely! Somedays just getting started is all it takes.0 -

Congrats on the twins!!
I had "one of those" days today where I didn't want to go workout, but I did. I felt better after going to BodyFlow class (light workout day today). Usually, when I am having one of those days, I get moving by doing some cleaning or I force myself to go out for a walk. I usually feel better after I do so.0 -

I just recently found my biceps nothing major, but I definitely have a little bit of definition when I bend my arm ( not even trying to "make a muscle")0 -
4 kids and breastfeeding 2! You are awesome! Just the fact that you are not using the kids as an excuse makes you.my hero. Prayers coming your way and keepnit up Mom!0

I just think about how I felt before and how far I have come. There's noway I am throwing away all the hard work I have done by sitting on my butt eating crappy food again! :noway:0
