I see people write just the word "bump" in some of the message board postings. What does that mean? I'm not very hip to all the cool lingo. (You can tell because I use the word "hip.")

  • People say "bump" so that the post is once again at the top of the forum (thus, more people will see it and comment on it).

It's supposed to "bump" the thread back up to the top of the forum but a lot of people use it on this site to bookmark a thread in their history so that they can view it later.

    And "cool lingo"....

But yeah, what the other guy said, and also so it will show up in your news feed/activity, and you can come back to it later...which is why you see "bump for later" sometimes.
