would the stair climber be making my knee pain worse?

Hi guys, I've had some knee pain for a little bit while training for the marathon but it's been bearable. I felt really good after my longest run on Saturday which was 12 miles. Well, I cross-trained yesterday and did elliptical and 30 minutes of the stair climber on level 10 and this morning when i went to run at the track, my knee was hurting pretty badly. should i lay off of the stairclimber?
Thanks for your advice :flowerforyou:

Make sure you're stretching your legs well, and if you have access to a high density foam roller, roll out your IT bands...mine always get tight when I run...0

Is it PAIN with a capital P or just discomfort... new muscle being built?
I climb stairs at work on my breaks, and I have some pretty bad knee problems (broken Tibia/Fibia (sp?)/Femur 9 years ago...) but my knee is ok with the stairs. However the first time I did them, I was hurting, but it was just overuse of muscles that I hardly ever used.
Now I am up to 4 flights of stairs in 5 repetitions. And no discomfort... only feeling the burn. Also... anyone know how to calculate stair climibing for the exercise log? They only have jogging/running up stairs. I LAUGHED!0 -
