OK, read once that purely from the natural reduction of muscle mass as we age that without a change in diet to compensate one would gain a pound a year. Think I must be living proof, not at 64 I need to lose some 50-60#.
Been complaining and whining to my doctor that "I need to lose weight" for several years. This year she pointed me to MFP and mentioned she had lost 42# herself following it. Went home, downloaded the app and have lost 13# in the past 3-4 weeks, without any difficulty!
Nothing really magical about the process, other than MFP is so well designed and powerful that tracking caloric intake is easy and fun! The very fact of tracking a process tends to motivate one to continue and rapidly teaches you to understand the impact of foods on your daily needs!
My wife has also joined the fun that certainly makes it easier for me, since as common, she is the one managing the food. But our meals have been delicious and satisfying and I can honestly say it hasn't been difficult.
Now perhaps this is simply the born-again phenomena I can't say. I can say that even with this small weight loss (now around 220#) I can really feel and appreciate the difference.
Cheers, best wishes to all.
