Why did i gain 2 lbs?!

I didn't even record the hour long boot camp training I did that has me feeling like I need a wheelchair to get around bc i am SO sore. I ate what I normally do, and I drank a lot of water like I normally do. But for some reason I went up 2 lbs in 2 days. I have changed nothing except I have been working out HARDER the past week, doing hour long spin and boot camp classes. I have been very sore from the workouts, so I know I am doing something right.

Help! i don't want the past two months of weight lost to be for nothing!
(its not pre-time of the month weight)

It is normal for your body to fluctuate weight wise whether time of the month or not. Unless you have consumed 7000 calories in the last 2 days, I doubt it is actual "weight" gain. don't worry about it too much. Keep working hard!

Your weight fluctuates on a daily basis depending on many factors (fluid retention, the time of the month, etc.). I only weigh myself once a week since this provides a more accurate measurement, and it also helps me to not get hung up on the day-to-day numbers that easily fluctuate. I was in the same boat as you last week and went up 1.5 pounds in a week while still eating healthy and exercising (I know, it's frustrating!). I weighed myself a few days later and I was back to my previous weight, so don't worry! Just keep doing what you're doing and don't focus so much on the scale :)

You know what soreness is? Inflammation. You know what inflammation is? Fluid retention.

    It's normal and temporary.

I think thats my biggest hang up, I weigh myself every morning the moment I wake up. I need to do it once a week, so I don't get so frustrated. Hubby is coming home from deployment today, I don't want to disappoint! Thank you

I have a question of the same sort , i gained 1 kg (roughly around 2 lbs) I've been working out , i do 20 mins of cardio rest are lifts and ab exercises my diet has actually decreased Why is this happening? Also , i noticed that Myfitnesspal doesn't give a calorie count for lifts and other exercises that's messing up my daily log. How do i fix this?

Your body retains fluid when you do intense workouts, as a repair to your muscles, from what I have read.

Pure water retention for muscle recovery. Don't sweat it because that will go away on it's own. I've gone up as much as 4 pounds after an intense leg routine one weekend. Water weight for recovery isn't anything to worry about. Just keep doing the right things and you'll see a trend of success.

I weigh myself daily and it goes up and down 1-2 pounds. Perfectly normal.

If you have increased workouts it's temporary water gain for muscle repair / glycogen stores, don't worry about it!

REmember that muscles weights more then fat.
1 pound of fat is about a grapefruit and a pound of muscle would be a manderin.

Keep it up without hurting yourself and measure yourself. Inches might come off before weight.

It could be water retention like everyone says or could you have eaten 7000 extra calories without noticing it?:flowerforyou:

drink some more water and it will all work out.... I gain mid-cycle vs when I'm pms-ing. If it's warmer outside you might retain more fluid. If your calories in/out make sense... then it's fluid. That's why I only worry about my once a week weigh in.

Did you make sure to get some protein and a complex carb after that workout? That much working out, and your body needs it.

The only way to be absolute is to get a heart rate monitor (HRM) it will be specific to your calorie burn based upon your body.

I also weigh daily, and record it in a spreadsheet. I also have the spreadsheet calculate a "weekly average". For 3 weeks, I varied in a 3 lb range (187-190), then it suddenly went down to 183.5. For the last week, I've been between 184-185.5.

Weighing daily and recording it allows me to see a range that is "normal" instead of just a single static number.

If you don't freak out about 2, 3, even 5 pound changes on a daily basis, but look at it as part of a range, not an absolute, you will see a trend. If the trend goes up, then worry, but in general, my trend is going down.

Ditch the scale and bust out the measuring tape.

    Start measuring bi-weekly.

The scale will literally drive you bonkers.
