campfire and....beer

Options
So
we're going camping for the holiday weekend - we've done really good planning ahead food wise with low cal cucumber salad and lots of veggies to grill over the fire (we're vegetarian).

but wondering if anyone has any input on alternatives for beer? I've just gotten so use to drinking a beer around the campfire - wondering the best route to go here.

all ideas welcome :)

what about those new light beers. I think they have one that's only 70 calories, or something like that

Have beer! Budweiser Select 55 is a good, low-cal choice, as is MGD 64. These give you lower calorie options (plus have a lower percentage of alcohol), so you can still enjoy what you love! I drink wine at least once a week with my girlfriends and I still am losing weight! You have to be able to keep at least some of the things you love and incorporate those into your lifestyle if you want to be successful in maintaining weight loss.

Relax and have fun! You'll be camping, so it will be easy to plan to be a litlle more active (go for long walk or run with your camping pals/family) and have a couple of beers. Have a great holiday! :drinker:

I still drink microbrews and "heavy" beers a few times a month. Sometimes, I even drink several in one sitting. Just compensate by being a little extra active this weekend, and be sure to hydrate more than you usually would! No need to give up the things you love!

This. But I actually like Coors Light. It's like 105 calories a can.

If your drinking simply to enjoy a beer.. Budweiser Select 55 is good.

I found though I will have to drink more to get a buzz.. So I still prefer a good ole coors light if i'm in the party mood

Drink beer. Drink real beer. Don't make it light or ultra. Have fun. Enjoy your friends and nature and a fun campfire. This one trip won't make or break your diet.

Miller lite is 96 cals a can... I definitely will have a few beers once or twice a month. I just am very careful with what I eat those days. I'm so jealous - I miss my camp with all the beers around the campfire!

A beer or two or three is NOT going to ruin your diet...as long as it's a once in a while thing. We ALL need to relax and indulge every now and then. Enjoy yourself.

OH goodness, there is no alternative for beer geesh!!! :drinker: Personally I like box-o-wine when I am camping and then I just mix it 1/2 with seltzer and a lime :) But if you are going to have beer...burn a few extra cals during the day and drink the beer you enjoy . I like the craft beers (HUGE cals, but I'll stick to 22-44 oz :drinker: ) Have a great time!

Y'all are a bad influence! hehe jk

no i think its more the beer taste than the buzz that i associate so i'm going to check out Budweiser Select 55.

    thanks for the feedback!

You're going camping! Go for a nice afternoon hike, then drink some beer! Your favourite kind! That's what I do! I find it really easy to get extra exersize in out in the wilderness because my pooch and I love to explore, and there are always some games or acitivites going on that require some physical effort, so I usually just plan healthy meals and don't worry too much about liquid calories.

I prefer the Miller 64 to the Bud Select 55. Also, if you are just going for the beer flavor, I believe that all NA beers are low cal. I think around 60 calories. Busch NA is my preference for that. Where I am from the Miller 64 and Bud 55 are in every grocery store or gas station.

No way in heck I would give up beer around the campfire.
