Not losing - is Prozac the cause

Hi all.
Just for my own sanity ---- I could really use some answers from others who have been on SSRI's
Was on Prozac for 3 months - gained 20lbs
switched to Celexa for 5 months - no gain, no loss
switched to Wellbutrin for 1 month - no loss. felt crappy. went off
Im not on anything anymore - which is great - BUT.... i cannot get rid of the weight I gained while on Prozac
one of my friends said it took her about 6 months to finally start dropping the weight she gained from it
I guess my biggest issue is - i have been busting my BUTT to get rid of this weight with no results. If it really does take For-EV-er to start finally losing, am I just spinning my wheels in the meantime?
My trainer wants to put me on a very strict diet/fitness plan - Im all for it, because Im getting married in 2 months and desperate. But.... am I pushing a rock up a hill, just to have it fall again?
Im not going to suffer for 2 months if its pointless
(and before I get attacked - I dont mean that the fitness/diet is ACTUALLY pointless - but for the immediate needs of having a bridal deadline- it might be)

My pharmacist said that it can make you gain or lose (great answer right?!) I hope it's not the meds! I was on Celexa and gained like 30 pounds before. I hope some others post on this. I hate meds that mess with the weight!0

I'm interested too. If Cymbalta makes me gain weight, I'm gonna punch my gyno straight in the face. :flowerforyou:0

I have been on Zoloft for several years and lately, the more I move, the more I lose. For me, it's not the problem.0

The more I read - the more Im convinced that it IS the meds thats the culprit.
apparently - they "stay in your system" even after you stop taking them? and significantly alter the metabolism (via the brain sensors?)... something like that
IDK - maybe i'll just drink more water to flush it out :grumble:
KP - tread lightly. I know you've been ok lately, so Im keeping my fingers crossed for you that the Cymbalta will help without any other adverse effects. you will notice pretty quickly - so thats good
I just didnt KNOW.
I blame myself for taking a medication I didnt feel I really needed in the first place & simply blindly trusting my doctor without doing my own research first.0 -
