Threw my back out! Help!

Yesterday, while rearranging my sitting position on the couch I felt a very quick *kik* like sensation in my lower back. I've experience this before and even made a trip to the E.R. because I had no idea what I had done and the pain was EXCRUCIATING. Turns out, it was just a pulled muscle.

Well, it's happened again now, but this time, I was a tad better prepared for what was to come. Unfortunately, I have no idea how to alleviate the pain, or shorten the recovery process, for that matter.

So far, I've been stretching by getting on all fours alternating arching and bowing my back. Laying on my back and crossing my ankles over the opposing knees and holding the stretch until it no longer hurts. These things seem to be helping, but are there any other ideas out there that have worked for you??
