I'm going to the wedding of a very dear friend with my wife this weekend and plan on drinking....at least a couple of drinks. Does anyone have any suggestions as to a good beverage choice to make? Traditionally I'm a Gin and Tonic guy. Thanks!

Champagne is only like 80 calories a glass--I would go for that or Red/white wine. :drinker:

I think you could drink Gin and tonic. Gin is pretty low in calories and tonic is 0 isn't it? Your drink would be 90 calories or less. I drink Vodka, soda water and either Crystal light or Mio in it and it's about 80-90 calories/drink.

Gin and tonic is not bad. can you do diet tonic or soda?

The key with alcohol is not to consume so much that it makes you forget your healthy eating.

Really good you're planning ahead because last weekend I went to a wedding got wasted and ate donuts and tacos after. Was it worth it though? Yesss.

    Enjoy it!

in general clear drinks are lower cal. (according to JM lol). I do shots instead of mixed drinks for the most part, gets right to the point without the extra cals. Im a college student and this week is commencement week so I have been struggling to fit alcohol into my calories. I have managed to stay under but im not all that proud of what I consumed WHILE under the influence.

Thanks all!!! I really appreciate it! I'll just have to be sure to dance A LOT so I can drink more and make up for those things I eat as a result! ;-)

    Have a great weekend everyone!!!!

If you ask for a gin and tonic, the tonic they're going to give you is not zero calories. Its actually pretty high in calories. But there is diet tonic. Now whether or not that will be available at the wedding, who knows.

You could also do something like a Jack and diet coke or rum and diet coke. You'd be looking at around 80-100 calories. You could always do a light beer.

    I think that's a great idea.
Have a couple of whatever drink you enjoy, and alternate with sparkling mineral water so people don't bug you to "have a drink".
Enjoy the fun and dancing :)

Tonic has almost as many calories as regular soda. I drink gin and club. Club soda is just carbonated water.

Anything available. It's a wedding, celebrate, enjoy, and drink a toast to the happy couple!

Thanks everyone for the great suggestions! I really appreciate it! I ended up doing a bigger workout in the morning! And had 1 Gin and Tonic and then stuck with Red Wine...Basically because they kept filling my glass!

    Thanks again!
