Hi mfp lovelies,
Just have a quick question for you about activity levels as im struggling to figure this one out myself. Wanting to look at having a set calorie intake for each day rather than eating back exercise calories because i dont know how accurate they are so im trying to work out my activity level.
Am using this site ~ http://www.freedieting.com/tools/calorie_calculator.htm
The options it gives are:
Little/no exercise
3 times/week
5 times/week
5 times/week (*intense)
Every day
Every day (*intense) or twice daily
Daily exercise + physical job
I wish it gave the length of workouts rather than just the number of times but all calorie calculators are just vague. I know its all just an estimate and the only way to figure it out is by doing it but wanted to see if you had any advice!
I have a desk job and work out every day (unless im ill/especially tired for some reason) anywhere from 20 mins to 2 hours (not including walking which i do for an hour a day on workdays). This week ive been doing average 60 mins per day, usually jillian michaels dvds and zumba dvds.
Thanks so much for any advice

I drop pounds so fast. as you can tell already 5 pounds in a week and 2 days. Just lower your sugar intake. no more than 5g trust me. You will melt.:)

I know i shouldnt have sugar, my cups of tea get me through the day though! Have cut down a lot and not had any chocolate in ages haha, gone are the days of me saving my calories for treats everyday!
Are you picking 3 times a week because its in the middle and therefore a good place to start?
Thanks0 -
Even vegetables have sugars. How do stay below 5 grams?0

I think I would go with "5 times/week"
After all , the difference between these settings will only be a few hundred calories either way and fat2fit says to subtract 100-300 more if the rate of progress isn't adequate.0 -

I'm interested too! The options seem so vague, what's a work out to one person in nothing to another.
I ended up setting sedentary and then logging exercise, on the basis that it would at least be a conservative estimate and also logging exercise would help motivate me in the same way as logging my food intake does. But I'm not sure this is right.
An HRM is I' sure the right answer, but I'm not really prepared to either invest in one or use it properly at this point.
So I understand your difficulty and will watch for helpful replies...0 -
