Make up calories?

So I'm very close to my goal. I'm at 125 and my GW is 121. My daily calorie goal is 1630 and I usually lose 0.50-1lb on this.

In 2 weeks recently I was under my calorie goal at about 1200 net and I lost weight but I thnk it was too fast and i want to lose fat not muscle. So last week I ate closer to my normal calorie goal and lost nothing :/ I didn't gain either though. Obviously my metabolism had slowed so this week i've been trying to up it again.

However yesterday due to a surprise job trial I only managed to eat 750 calories. The day before I ate 1100. My appetite therefore seems to have been reduced do it's going to be hard to eat enough.

My question is, should I eat over my usual calorie goal of 1630 to increase my weekly net? Or should i treat today as a new start and try and get to 1630? I just don't want to lose muscle or reduce my metabolic rate. Thanks :)

Oh and depending on your answer, what healthy (low carb) high cal food can you recommend to help reach enough calories?

    I'd increase the cals...

Add olive oils to your cooking and salad dressings... peanut butter, a handfull of nuts. All those things are healthy in moderation and pack a lot of calories in a small amount so it won't feel like you're eating too much more. Maybe switch to full fat/calorie versions of things you normally have that are low cal/low fat.

Once in a while low cal days won't hurt you... as long as it's not a habit.

A whole lot of people on here go by weekly numbers and not just daily....So, you could try to eat a little extra for the next few days to get your weekly numbers looking good...Like above said...A handful of nuts won't make you feel stuffed but they are calorie dense and loaded with good fats...This is what I use to up my calories in a healthy way...HTH!! :)

So you found your maintenance level ? Back to the previous level for weight loss, plenty of protein will preserve muscle, extra cals if you go that way from almonds or avocado are simple, otherwise oilier / fattier choices like 20% fat beef mince instead of chicken or mackerel / salmon instead of tuna.

As you lose weight and the closer you get to your goal, MFP will often ask you if you wish to re-evaluate your calories goals and if you click "yes" it will decrease the daily amount, this is because as we get slimmer and closer to the end, weightloss becomes more difficult and often slows down.

There is a high possibility that because you decreased your calories, your weight reduced bringing you closer to your end result. Completely up to you, but increasing your calories defies the physics here, when decreasing them obviously worked for you.

I do always update my settings every week depending on my weight loss.I haven't lost enough in that time to make a huge difference to my calorie needs.

I did lose 1.5 in the weeks of lower calories but i know this was unhealthy and staying at this number for too long would just decrease my hunger more and my metabolism, and I'd eventually stall in weight loss like I did when I initially ate this amount. I don't want to starve my body. Ipsing the 0.5 a week like.

I just wanted to know if making up calories was worthwhile to make sure my metabolism get's back to it's normal speed, or whether i could still do this despite the 2 really low calorie days? Still wondering because I haven't acted yet. I ate the usual 1630 (and a tiny bit more) yesterday so I still have lots to make up for with weekly calories if that's what people think i should do?
