Vitamin D Deficiency

Most people ARE low on Vitamin D... I have heard however that those seriously low have weight gain issues, thyroid probs, muscle fatigue, can get cancer(s) and other disesases, etc.
Make sure to get out into the sun for 15mins 3x per week, take supplements and make sure to consume via dairy products if possible. Being a woman I think taking a calcium plus vitamin D supplement is important.
I truly need to get outside in the sunlight a lot more.0 -
I was very low vitamin D. I used to be a pasty white nerd that shunned things like sunlight. I try to get as much from sun as I can and I go stand outside sometimes. I intend to start tanning when I lose enough weight to be able to go shirtless without scaring people.
I supplement magnesium and it has vitamin d3 in it. I think my multi does and I also eat 4 hard boiled eggs a day and they contain vitamin d.0 -
thanks everyone0

Not very common. A little dairy or half an hour outside should be all the D you need.0

Did any of you experience bone pain?
***********************
Big time! My hips would ache terribly. I ached EVERWHERE. I thought to myself "If I feel this bad at 44, what will I feel like in 20 years?". Long story short, once I got my level to normal, my aches and pains went away. (And my depression.)
Good luck!0 -
Fortified Dairy products
Vitamin D just isn't a natural nutritious inside typical milk. Consequently, vitamin D is certainly added in. Commercially distributed milk, soy milk and also rice milk accessible in bottles are seen to consist of vitamin D.
Cod liver oil
Cod liver oil has been included in the listing of food resources for vitamin D. In addition to simply being a high supply of vitamin D, it is usually seen to be loaded with some other well being increasing nutrients and vitamins just like vitamin A and also omega3 fatty acids.

I have single digit vitamin D too...taking 5000IU per day. I also have an underactive thyroid, so apparently I don't absorb Vitamin D, so should have been on D supplements long ago.
Yes, my bones, joints, & body ached. I had depression, fatigue, weight gain, you name it. Also recently diagnosed with severe degenerative disc and joint disease in my spine.
I have only just started the D, so I can't tell you yet, if it is helping or what it will help with but it will be interesting to see what the results will be.0 -
My ob-gyn had put me on calcium supplements with vitamin D in them. I was on that for 6 months. Now my family doctor/general practitioner wants me off of the calcium and to start taking just vitamin D3 gelcaps instead because he said new studies have shown that it's the D3 that is helping the bones and not the calcium supplements, which may be harming other things like the kidneys.0

One other thing my practiioner shared with me, the good ole natual sunlight also aides with absorption (using caution).
I hope this helps someone!
This advice is for white people (nothing personal). If you are darker, you do not absorb much vitamin D from that oft repeated line about going outside for 15 minutes. I think the calculation for someone my skin tone was more like 3 hours. So if you aren't fair, you probably want to supplement over trying to get enough outside exposure.0
