Hello, all!

I am 20 years old, and I have lost almost 20 pounds and am now a size 7! :D So what I've been doing has been working for me! I've been eating 1200-1400 every day, and usually with at least 30 minutes of cardio and some strength moves every single day. I usually try NOT to eat back my exercise calories.

But here's the deal! The pool my family has a membership with just opened, and I plan on spending a few hours there every day, doing light swimming (jumping off diving board, just general swimming, maybe some laps) and I was wondering if sticking to the under 1400 cals every day, thus not eating back my calories spent swimming would speed up my weight loss? I have a beach trip coming up at the beginning of July that I really have been working hard to look my best for, and I'm still unhappy with how I look in a swimsuit. :/

So really, I was worried that my body would start just losing a bunch of muscle and/or go into a super slow metabolism state if I forced myself to swim almost daily WITHOUT eating back my calories. Would it be a good idea, or a bad one? Please help me out? :)

Well, everyone is different, but I've lost 40 pounds and never ate back my workout calories. However, if you are worried, vary it. Some days do, some days don't. Variety is the spice of life and to help shake plateaus and metabolism, it's a pretty good way to do it.

That being said, if you are burning 1000 calories swimming every day, then goodness yes. Or at least most of it. I mean the past 32 weeks I've been losing, I'm barely hitting my 1200 cals a day and not eating back my burn and have been losing so... to each their own! :D Good luck, girl!

I think at this stage you should be focussing on exercise to get a nice shape to your body, rather than worrying about calorie restriction to lose more weight. If you want to look and feel good in your swimsuit, then eating enough and strengtheng up your muscles is going to really help.

This. For as small as you are though, a healthy rate of weight loss is about a 1/2 pound a week. Strength training will help a lot in toning and giving you the shape you may be looking for rather then just worrying about a number on a scale. Make sure your body is getting the calories (FUEL) it needs, especially if you're going to be spending lots of time swimming in a pool.
