multiple buffet meals question

Hi, I'm wanting some suggestions as to how to handle next week for me . . . I'm flying to a convention-like thing, that lasts for 7 days. This particular convention/activity includes buffet breakfast, lunch, and dinner, as well as buffet am snack and pm snack for free.
Obviously, I need to be smart and watch the amount I eat, but thought it might be good to ask for other thoughts/suggestions, like what should be avoided at all costs. My primary concern is how many days and meals are involved . . . it seems like it would be lot easier for a day or two, but 7 days seems a tad more daunting.
FTR: I'm relatively new to MFP, am at 1200 calories/day, have lost 12 pounds out of 20 that need to be gone by 19 June when I go back to the doctor who performed my major knee surgery a little over two months ago - so exercise is necessarily almost non-existent (though I am hoping the hotel has a pool where I can do some non-weight-bearing 'exercise' . . . )

Thanks! :-)

    bump :-)

I understand buffets are frequently asked about, but like I said above, this is for 7 straight days, every meal, including 2 snack meals, so the advice to leave room in calories from other meals that day, and have a snack before hand so as to not be hungry don't work in this situation.

    Thanks again!

I am new to this forum and think your question is a good one. You can easily overeat with that amount of food around. For me so far it seems that the food diary helps me keep on track as best as I can. Yesterday I went over because I was at a party and did weights instead of aerobic activity. I really needed to do weights though so I took the hit. I am not sure if you are sharing your diary with anyone but it is a huge bummer to be over your calories for the day when your other buddies are not. So that helps motivate me to be good. That is the best advice I can give. If you don't have anyone you can add me! The more I see posts daily on how they met their goals and worked out the more motivated I feel to not be the odd man/woman out .

Good luck! I know it is hard! Stay away from high calorie food, eat as many veggies and fruit as possible.

Green salads little to no dressing, fruits. Nothing fried or soaking in sauces. Baked if it's there. Veggies (but be careful of the butter). I think it will be hard to count those calories unless you do your research now and know at least the approx. amount of calories of each potiential items before you go there. Start now looking at how much 1/2 cup of things will look like so you can judge that. Even scrambled eggs will have butter and things in it that you may not be eating right now. I'm sure there will be things you can eat, Keep in mind you can eat anything as long as you get 1/2 cup of rigatoni instead of a plateful. Everything within reason.
