Question about massage

Hi everyone! I have a question. I keep hearing from many people that massage+to exercises helps to tone up as well. But I know that sometimes massage can result in bumps if specialist is not good. It can also be very pricy to add it on a regular basis. So does anyone do massage herself/himself? Can you recommend any links or articles about it?

I've never heard of massage helping to tone up, exactly, nor have I heard that massage can result in "bumps." I don't know if what you're saying is wrong, and I'm no expert. I've just never heard these assertions before.
I see a sports massage therapist along with my physiotherapist to address some injuries and imbalances in my muscles and joints. The sports massage is to help break down the accumulated scar tissue, release tightness and help to lengthen muscles associated with my injuries. These things will supposedly allow me to train better and rebuild muscle with less injury (maybe this is what you meant?), as my soft tissue will be more supple and healthy. I'm not even sure I'm explaining it 100% correctly, this is my interpretation of what my physio has told me.
But, I also have a foam roller and practice myofascial release at home. Check out this site to start: http://www.sport-fitness-advisor.com/self-myofascial-release.html0 -
Hi Mashenka - I use this after runs and lifting. It really helps. https://www.thestick.com/0

ooh, yeah! I love the stick! It is the same idea as the foam roller, but less painful.0

Massage does stimulate the skin just as much as your muscle.
I wouldn´t say it tones your body and I have never heard the bump theory.
You can massage yourself to a certain point but it will never be as good as it would be done by a massage therapist.
I´m a massage therapist and I massage my daughter often, she is a swimmer and sometimes has sore muscles and it helps her with the pain but I wuoldn´t say it tones her, swimming does tone her though.
I´m sorry if there are many incorrect words, I know my english isn´t all that good.0 -
Oh ok thanks for the answer. Then I'll not bother spending time on it I think Just sport shall be enaugh0

Massage therapy can be used before a workout, if you manipulate the muscles vigorously. After a workout, it is used to release lactic acid from muscle tissue. Therefore, you can not have as much soreness0
