Trying to figure out my schedule if I join a gym.

Here's the deal.

If I wanted to exercise at home, I'd either have to do videos or jog at 4am OR after work when I get home. Of course, it might be dark when I get home (winter months). OR I could join a gym with DH. The cost would be $45/month for our family, and this gym offers classes, weights, and machines. However, DH and I would probably not go at the same time because we don't want to pay extra for childcare after the kids would have been in daycare all day. So, if DH goes to the gym after work, he'd be there from 4 or 4:30 to 5 or 5:30pm. I could then go after dinner at 6:30 or 7pm. Here's what my daily schedule would look like. What do you think? (BTW, the gym is open from 5:30am to 8:30pm.)

5am Get myself up and showered
5:40am Breakfast for myself
6:00am Get kids up and around for daycare/give Gabe a bottle and the older kids milk
6:30am Leave to go to work and begin the 40 minute commute
7:10am Drop kids off at daycare
7:20am Arrive at work (7:30am contract time)
7:20am-3:30pm Work
3:30-4:00pm possibly workout or walk with coworker OR go home at 3:30, which would change later schedule a bit
4:10pm pick up kids at daycare
4:50pm arrive home and start dinner (DH will arrive home from gym sometime between now and dinner.)
5:45pm eat dinner
6:15pm get ready for gym
6:30pm at gym (several classes I might want to take start then)
7:30pm finish up at gym and go home
7:40pm arrive home from gym
8:30pm put kids to bed
10:00pm go to bed myself

Man, you really have this figured out.

With so much thought, what could stop you?

I have to say I love having the gym to go to. I walk in the neighborhood, ride my bike, take classes at the gym, use the elliptical, use the treadmill and 2-3 days a week I strength train.

I think the choices make it easier to stick with a plan.

    Good luck to you!!:flowerforyou:

    Speaking solely as a mom--

your schedule leaves very little time for the kids--

I know times are tough, time is limited and something's gotta give, but it shouldn't be the very little time you have for them--

    My two cents-- :ohwell:

That's what I was worried about. Do you have any suggestions on when to exercise? Should I get up at 4am and do videos at home?

That could work, but I was kind of looking forward to the gym. It's not open on Sundays, so I guess I could just go on Saturdays?

Thank you for your opinion. I hope I wasn't snippy or anything. I didn't mean to be. :flowerforyou: I just thought I had it figured out, and I don't think it's fair to me that my husband would be able to go to the gym but I wouldn't. I know I've lost weight without the gym already, but I wanted to try something new.

well you are very important. my suggestions would be

take turns t/w/th he goes m/w/fr you go

go for long walks with the kiddos or get them involved with the videos.

I took a back seat for all the years my kids were growing up, and we all ended up fat and unhealthy.

as long as one parent is home at all times, they are not missing out on anything.

You can do this. Dont stress on it so much. Sign up for the gym and then go!!

It will be a welcome change, but you dont have to do the gym 5 days a week.

Have fun, enjoy the kids on the weekends and make the time count!!

:noway: :noway: wow, do you want to come organize my life for me?

I'm a "give it a shot"/"live and learn" type of girl... give it a try and see how it works for you. You can always change it or modify it as you find necessary. Seems like you got quite a workout just planning your dyas!

Ah, heck no-- not snippy at all--

And I hope I didn't come across flip-- there is no easy solution for us moms, that's for sure.

 I was just talking to my husband about maybe just going a few days a week, maybe Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. I can workout at home the other days. The only problem is that we don't have a treadmill, and I was just starting to jog/run. I might be able to do a jog when he gets home or something since I don't think I'd be gone for more than 30 minutes or maybe 45 (which is still shorter than going to the gym). Thanks!

    P.S. I'm a super organized freak. LOL
