A question for the lifters...

I've hit a plateau, gained a couple lbs which is fine I feel more toned but no change in weight/measurements in over 2 weeks. I started to lower my cardio from 30 min/day to 20 min. with more added resistance.(I spent equal time doing cardio and strength before, too much conflicting info, couldn't decide!) Also increased weight on all my strength training 40+ lbs or so with less reps. Feeling sore for the first time in a while today so that's a positive but I need conformation: is it better to do more reps with less weight or more weight with fewer reps?
Diary is open if you would like to look, also I'm 5'4 between 115-118 now. I appreciate any help, and feel free to add.

more weight fewer reps is typically strength training
less weight with more reps is typically hypertrophy training
Not that the first can't make you bigger, or that the second can't make you stronger.0
