How accurate would you say the sacle body fat % is? Mine is currently 46% (yep that high) but I'm just starting out, and have been doing no exercise before this. What is a good goal for body fat % for a 30 year old mom of 3 that is curently very flabby

Probably not very. The only way to get an accurate body fat measurement is through hydrostatic testing. However, if you use it properly, it should be able to monitor your downward trend. Test at the same time every day and try to maintain the same level of hydration.

That's the biggest problem with BF% scales. It's not such a big deal that they aren't accurate, it's that they aren't repeatable. If, say at 8 am, you measure yourself at 40% BF, you could get on at 9 am and measure 43%, 35%, 45%, etc.

A decent set of calipers and some experience is much better. You might not be 100% accurate, but your going to measure the same way each time so you can actually see trends.
