Someone please give me a little more insight to how many calories I should be taking in a day, I'd really appreciate it. Because I've been looking around at the different forums and keep getting mixed ideas on this. (my diary is open as well if that helps)

I'm 27 yrs old, 5'4, 156 lbs.
Sit down desk job.
I go for walks/runs every second day or so otherwise.

From what I've read on the internet:

BMR - "1688"
TDEE - "1802"

MFP states I should be intaking 1200 calories?!

MFP is responding to what you told it. If you said you wanted to lose 1 lb/week it will have taken 500 cals a day off what it thinks you use in a day - your estimated TDEE on a normal day without specific exercise. It doesn't go below 1200. You may have set it to 2 lbs/week ie a target deficit of 1000 cals/day, hence it's at the 1200 minimum...

    1802 TDEE - 1000 = 802 round up to 1200 minimum.

So your deficit would be 600 and loss about 1.2 lbs/week.

If you do 150 calories extra on an exercise day - ie 150 on top of the 60+ you burn per hour anyway - then you enter that in your exercise diary and it will increase your food goal by that many calories and say you have earned extra calories - you can then elect to ignore them or "eat them back" (spit) to restore the deficit to its original level.

Because you probably entered "2lbs per week" weight loss (which equates to a 1000kc per day defecit. MFP will not recommend an 802kc per day intke...the minimum is 1200.

Oh okay, so 1200 is correct then, as I did post 2 lbs per week loss.

Which equals out I guess, lost 6 lbs in the last 3 weeks.

The program gives you the recommended daily calorie intake and tracks it for you. It was easy at first - now I am having trouble staying within range too. I am not making as good of choices. The better quality the food - the less the calories. Of course, stearing you towards fruits and vegies, low fat, good carbs. I could use a friend ?
