I'm confused about Eat more to weigh less...

I've been looking at the forums and what you should do to figure out how much to eat based on TDEE. I've gone to a couple different links and so far the links have said I need to eat around 1550 calories per day to do the eat more to weigh less.
But what I have been doing for MFP is 1200 calories per day, and eating back exercise calories. So on days when I exercise (3x per week or so) I am eating around 1550 calories, and days when I don't exercise I'm still eating the 1200. So I'm not eating more at all on this program, it's the same thing I'm doing, it seems like. How is it any different than what I'm doing?

If the 1550 is your TDEE, and not your BMR, then what you are doing is fine, more or less.0
