Hi All,

Im looking for some advice on if i should partake in the SHRED challenge everyone has been raving on about?
I have been doing quite well so far -19lbs in just over 8 weeks i still have like another 35 to go to get to my GW. I have reached a little plateau no loss no gain for 2 weeks now!! blaaaaaaahhhhhh!!! had 2 manic party weekends and a lot of excess alcohol calories have been consumed so all in all not a bad 2 weeks :-) I have kept up my activity - not so much running as the heat has been mega here (but very nice - never complain about good weather) so Ive been walking a LOT! and doing extra housework around the house mowing the lawn etc but I really want to get back on the weight loss wagon again.........
I have come to the decision that I may try the SHRED? but firstly would like to hear any advices people who have tried this can offer before I order the DVD.
A bit about me I work as a medical secretary at my local hospital so my job is not very active - although for the last 8-9 weeks i have religiously been walking to and from work rain or shine (combined the distance is about 3miles) as soon as i get in I walk the dog approx half a mile then I usually get home and wizz round the house and do any cleaning tidying dsort laundry etc the norm - if going running i prep dinner 1st ready to start when i get back i then run 2-3 times a week approx 3-4 miles. atlthough i have only ran 3-4 times in the past 2 weeks ;-(............. then home (if i havent walked i quickly take the dog on a short walk) then get showered changed do dinner clean up from dinner and usually spend some QT with Hubby & my 12yr old daughter. weekends are my downfall.......

so please people please advise should i scrap the running and start to SHRED? will i need anything else apart from the dvd? will i have to do 7 days a week? I have read reviews and people say they cant walk for about the first 2 weeks from the sheer agaony!!

HELP?!?!?!?

Would like to read the responses for this, I bought the DVD and hope to start it soon. Due 9 days off work so was hoping to start it then, try and get some soreness out of the way as my job is very physical and if I started doing the DVD whilst working, I'm worried I won't be able to really do my job well because it'l hurt too much :(

Hope you get some good answers! I'd like to try this, just because some of the before/after pictures show incredible stomach changes!

I started the 30DS last week, and I was really sore and aching soo much after the first 2 days but you kind of get used to it. It was an ache in my shoulders and the top of my back really, and my legs ached and so I had a day off after Day 3. It's quite tough to begin, but the good thing about it is there is a beginner level and a more intense level you can workout to, you just follow the person who's closest to your fitness level.

I think most people do have a rest day, but some choose to do it everyday. It is only 20 mins so it's great if you haven't got much time.

You will need weights, I started with 1lb weights and then used to alternate with 2lb ones. By Day 5 (yesterday) I found it much easier to complete the workout all the way through, without stopping and using the 2lbs weights.

Hope this helps =] I'd go for it give it a try. Nothing to lose but the weight XD

Im on day 29 and in the first 4 days my legs killed but since then and finding this site everyone says to stretch more than Jillian does and id def agree!! Ive also done it everyday.

In the first week i lost 7lbs and ive only lost another 1lb since but in total ive lost 10" overall, hips (-4), waist (-5) and thighs(-1) I also lost under my bust but never measured there but can def feel it. The results probably could have been better but i live in a flat so cant jump about so i do what i can and dont stop moving.

Id say it might do your body good for a change.

The only other thing you would need is dumbbells, if you dont already have them, i used cans of beans at first till i brought some proper weights.

Just to add, even though the tape measure says there's changes and i feel 100% better and more toned i wish id took before pics as i just cant see it, :-( This might be something you would like to do.

Hiya - I have been measuring myself since my 2nd week of the diet etc or should i say healthy living plan!!! I know DIET is not a good word! and I have lost lots of inches all ove which im probably more pleased with than the actual weight as I feel better in clothes etc and not everyone knows what the scale reads they just see the visual. :-) I will defo take some before & after pics though. thanks for the advice.
Im hoping for good results just want to shift off this plateau - need to get the scale going down.

Hi! I gave it a whirl after all the positive comments on here :) I loved it so much I bought the Jillian Michaels' box set!
I found Level 1 pretty easy so I only did that one for 6 days, then did Levels 2&3 for 12 days each. I definately saw a difference! Lost at least an inch from my bust, waist, and thighs, and 2 inches from my stomach and hips. Felt loads stronger in my arms and legs too. So would defo recommend!
I used tins of beans and bottles of water filled with sand and my pilates weight balls, I've now bought some hand weights though which are so much easier to use! Level 1 wasn't too bad, but I seriously ached after starting level 2, I couldn't even sit on the toilet! haha So yes give it a whirl and make sure you track your measurements :) Good Luck! xxx

Your welcome hun =] Glad to help.

Sugarbomb thanks for the links, I was trying to find the other workouts on there, and now I have them yay, so going to watch them through in a sec.

I'm a little sacred of doing Level 2 though haha, a lot of people have said they found it quite tough, they ache more and some don't particularly like Level 2 *gulps* please tell me it's not really that bad?

I personally love the 30DS...however a lot of people I have talked to said they had mixed feelings because it became repetative. If you tend to get bored easily...it might not be for you. However, I do think that switching things up will keep your body on its toes and will hopefully lead to toning if not weightloss. I have noticed quite a few people have had serious success with this workout. I hate to play devils advocate but I wanted to be sure you got views from both sides. Best of luck!

I have been doing the 30 day shread off and on for about 2 months now. I travel a lot, so it's hard for me to do it continuously; however, I hope to make it all the way through soon :-)

My point here is, I really like Jillian Michaels. I think she has workouts that provide results without having to spend hours in the gym, plus I can do her workouts at home with pretty much no extra equipment (except some weights). The other thing I like about the 30 day shred is that you can see results almost immediately. I can see my stomach getting more toned after the first day or two (so I can only imagine what it will look like if I can make it through the whole 30 days!). You can get her DVDs on Amazon and they are much cheaper than anywhere else I have found them. I got the 30 day shred video for like $6. She also has an extreme shed and shred vidoe I plan on doing after I finally complete the 30 day shred. It is two levels with 45 minute workouts for each.

I hope this helps, and I wish you luck :-)
