30 Minute Circuit @ PF/ Follow the rules or fail?

So I have done the 30mc twice now, but both times I skipped the stairs in between. I've heard people say if you don't do the stairs it's a waste of a workout. Does it matter if I do the circuit, then go to the cardio after that workout? Am I really wasting my time? One of the reasons I don't do the stairs is because they are BORING and nobody else does em. Don't want to take all that work and have it mean nothing by skipping a few stairs....

i politely disagree...they make it a kick *kitten* workout in a short time.

hmm if youre doing cardio after, then i guess whatever you think is good...then you dont even need to bother with the circuit area...or if you do, make sure you move if its someones turn, at my PF that area gets crowded!

Lol, yeah, Jules, I'll give you that one. I should have written a more detailed reply. :) I mostly meant that the rest of the circuit will be helpful even if you skip the stairs.

I agree, hey every effort gets you somewhere... all i know is that doing those stairs between for like a whole minute is killer for me...i have even added a knee up at the top of the stair, when i do the circuit...i dont every time....i have almost puked.YAAAY!

The stairs will improve your workout. I do the 30-minute circuit 2-3 times a week and after 60 days of gym attendance I am seeing improvement in my capacity and my energy with the steps. I have 5 different step routines so I do not get bored, and I find myself encouraged with my progress. I don't enjoy it, but I appreciate what the steps are doing for me.

Like the old adage says: you get out of it what you put in.

So, skipping the steps is okay if I do my cardio right after then? I do the circuit then hit the elliptical, treadmill, bike... That's good enough, yeah? I guess I can try to do the stairs in between, I just feel lame being the only one doing em. :ohwell:

Stair walking is def. very board, but it does add quite a kick to a work out.

I agree that stairs are a pain (literally and figuratively).

Here's MY take on it - since you asked so politely....

I would hit the stairs anyway....I HATED stairs when I first started but as I saw my strength and stamina increase, I grew to almost like them. Doing them time after time really showed me how much I was improving in both strength and endurance - not to mention that my legs are really firming up and look pretty good!

    On the flip side:

I would rather see people do SOMETHING - rather than nothing! :D Even if you're doing the elliptical, treadmill, bike - it's more than just sitting on your duff watching television!

So, it's up to you - it's YOUR workout and you have to do what makes YOU enjoy it or you probably won't stick with it.

will you feel lame when everyone else has a pudgy butt and yours looks good because stairs help work your buns?

I jog in place, do jumping jacks, or squats instead of the stairs. I hate them. I see people do push ups and other things as well. My goal when I am in there is to keep moving so my heart rate stays up. I don't even wait for the green light. I keep moving. Once I'm done with the circuit, go back out to the floor to finish up my cardio.
