I'm getting back into running, and I want to add that into my excerise log here on the site. What should I list it under seeing that, 'Hey I ran for 30 minutes' isn't listed under anything? Thanks

"Running (jogging), 5.0 mph" and "Running (jogging), 5.2 mph," are listed in the database, or you can create your own exercise and name it "Hey I ran for 30 minutes."

If you use a HRM, then I would create an"HRM-running" exercise.

If not, by any chance you know the distance you are running? Then i would enter your time and distance in a running calculator to see how fast you are going.

Get yourself a Heart Rate Monitor (with a chest strap) and log the burns that it gives you - you can create a custom exercise. The Polar FT4 and FT7 models are recommended by many on this site.

If you're an iPhone user (or if you have an iPod touch), you can buy the Nike+GPS app. It calculates your mileage, pace, time, and calories burned. I use that whenever I go for runs, and then just input the exercise info in MFP.

I enter my course, distance and time into Runkeeper, and us the info from that on here. If there's a close existing exercise, I use that, like if I'm at 6.67mph, I'll go with 6.7mph. Close enough. But often, I'll create a custom exercise and give it a more descriptive name, such as "Running 5.23 miles, lots of trails... and I think I swallowed a bug." or "11.1 scenic miles... river, pond, cityscape, woods, fields, shirtless men..."
