Couch to 100 mile MTB ride

To be fair I've done this before. Not in this amount of time but I did the ride two tow years ago and since have gained 70 pounds. I know if I stick with MFP I should be able to give this a go.
Up until two years ago I raced pretty obsessively and when I stopped I gained weight. Now the bug has bitten me again and I'm going to start training slowly but surely to amp up the miles and get back up to speed.

I Googled "couch to 100 mile MTB" for a laugh, and landed here. Did you do it this year?! If so ... WOW, and how was it?
If I can keep knee issues under control I'll be attempting my first 100 mile in July 2013, so now's the time for me to shed some pounds and start slowly building my time and miles. I really do need a couch to 100 mile MTB plan!0
