That's very interesting. If you aren't sneaking snacks a lot, and you are working out as you say you are, I can't think of a reason why you should be gaining. Is this consistant? Or just a 1 time thing. 2% is a pretty large upward swing, but remember, some Body Fat scales have a wide error margin. But if both weight and Body Fat are going up, then something's wrong. Maybe you need to get with a trainer and have them go over your workout regimine and diet.

If it's an electronic device (bioimpedance), don't bother with it. That has an 8% error, and for it to be anywhere near accurate you have to:

-not eat for at least 4 hours before the test
-not exercise for at least 12 hours before the test
-have *exactly* the same hydration levels each time
-have no menstrual weight (water retention)

Even calipers have a 5% margin of error, which increases when the person isn't well-trained (I promise, it's hard to do correctly lol). They are definitely better than bioimpedance, but for some reason most gyms don't do this as much.

Unless you're getting a $100 DEXA scan, that 2% is just error. Body comp is great to keep track of, but you should also measure yourself in inches, look in the mirror, see how your clothes fit, etc.

Are you on any medications that are causing weight gain, by chance? For exanple, I know the majority of antidepressants cause weight gain and it's extremely hard to lose weight if you're on them (from my own experience as well as others').
    Just a thought....

Try Alli. My dr recommended it along with this site and I have lost 4 lbs in a week. I work out every day for 45 minutes and eat within my range. Make sure you are not working out to hard you want to be in the lower range. I had heart faliure when I had my son so I have the heart monitor on also.

    Good luck hope it helps!

You didn't say how many calories your eating? Is it possible you're not getting enough to keep your body revved up? Otherwise, I would keep on for another couple of weeks and see what happens, then if the trend is the same maybe it's time for a check up.

    NO ONE IS DOOMED.
  • Regarding Alli- it only blocks 1/4 of the calories from the fat you consume. Fat has 9 calories per gram.
If you eat 45 grams of fat per day, then Alli is blocking 99 calories per day. A pound of fat has 3500 calories in it. This means that it would take about 35 days to lose one pound. So, Alli will increase your weight loss by 1/4 of a pound per week. Also- if you eat a low fat diet, it hardly works at all.
Sorry for the downer, but I was curious about it last month and did the math.

Ok, that makes me  but seriously, before you accept DOOM...have you talked to your doctor? Mine checked my thyroid twice before we realized nope; I was just fat. You never know!
