Safer to walk or bike in very hot weather?

Hi all,
I'm attending school over the summer and it is about 1.5 miles from my house, with one fairly large hill on the way there. I'm wondering if any of you have experience exercising in very hot weather and might be able to advise me... I'm not sure if it would be better/ safer to bike or walk there (or if it makes a difference).
Thanks!

I can't stand to even meander about in hot weather. Biking certainly will raise your temperature more, but you will get a considerable amount more evaporative cooling from your sweat. Plus, you can coast. In any case, bring PLENTY of water with you and protect yourself from exposure.
The other major consideration is that it takes about 30 minutes to walk 1.5 miles. A bike would take you less than 10 minutes. (about 8 minutes for a new rider, and 5 minutes for a somewhat fit rider, and a roadie could probably do it in 4.)0
