Hey guys! I'm new and would like some advice.

Hey guys,

I've been using the app on my iPhone on-and-off for a few months and I finally decided to need to take the plunge and actively take control of my weight. So this is why I am here. :]

Now, onto my issues. I'm 21, 5'9 and 215ibs. I'm a vegetarian and I am having trouble finding places to get protein effectively. I eat A LOT of vegetables, a good amount of fruit, and I consume eggs when I have the time (2-3 times a week), in addition to legumes and the like. Since I am male, I have been advised by my doctor to stay away from soy and soy products as much as I can because it could be contributing to my difficulty losing weight. I also checked and I DO NOT have hypothyroidism, diabetes, etc etc.

If anyone has any fun/new ways to get protein as a vegetarian that includes little dairy and little-to-no soy, I would love to hear them.

Thank you !

Quinoa is amazing and tasty and very high in protein. I also like lentils and beans.
  • Hi!

Do you eat quinoa? You could have it instead of rice or even as porridge in the morning - you can even bake it into cookies.

A nutritionist recommended a whey protein powder. It obviously isn't non-dairy, but a serving of the kind I bought at Costco gives 27g protein and just 2g sugar, so it's very low in lactose. I take it in a smoothie with almond milk (you can use a liquid of your choice), and fruit.

I drink Almond-coconut milk and whey protein. I use Body Fortress. Its cheap and high quality protein. 26g for one scoop, and it tastes real good. I use it after my workout every day.
