what changed for you?

I don't know if this is the right place to post this, but I was thinking today, how before i started this journey not only did I party a lot but I never bothered to eat breakfast because I never had time. I mean I knew breakfast was important but it just didn't really phase me, and now I can't imagine skipping breakfast. I've also cut down a lot on drinking, but the breakfast thing really got me thinking today.
so my question to you is, what has changed for you since you began your fitness/health journey? i'm curious to know.

I never had breakfast and if I did it was a giant bagel with cream cheese.
I used to overdo in the drinking department. Going on happy hours and really taking advantage of the prices in drinks and appetizers. I still go but not as often and when I go I get just a glass of wine.
Endless chips and salsa + margaritas. See the pattern here?
Never really was into fast food but I loved the Wendy's spicy chickrn sandwich. Now I have it once in a blue moon because it upsets my stomach and / or makes me retain water.
Bottom line is that I just had whatever I wanted but not in moderation. Today I have whatever I want but I'm more conscious about it and use moderation and self control.

Drinking was a big thing for me (this time and every other time I have tried to lose weight). So far I have not had a drink since I started working out again - that has only been three weeks, but still, its progress!
Other than that the one thing that has really changed for me is the way I look at my family. That sounds really bad but it took me 23 years to realize that my family was part of the reason for why I reached the weight I did. My family snacks all day long, and when you get more than one of my aunts in a room together forget about it, the eating never stops! Also my grandmother tries to show her love for us by cooking us food and making us meals. While it is a wonderful thing to have, and I am blessed to have her around it is hard to always say no seeing how it literally hurts her feelings that I don't want her to make me a grilled cheese while I am eating an apple...
I think this is for me both the biggest change and the toughest hurdle to jump for me. As my family should be more of a support system for me rather than a sabotage. :-/

I feel more balanced throughout the day, since I'm eating cleaner and more consistently. Plus, I cut out sweets for a while, which really helped me use my calories for things packed with more nutrition.

I actually get excited to go work out! That is a complete 180 for me. I have also stopped drinking the daily glass of wine and am actually almost reluctant to go out to eat. Especially since reading about how even "healthy menu choices" at most restaurants are packed with sodium!

I can't believe I forgot about the biggest change: I love to cook now and find restaurant food not as good as mine. We used to do lots of take out and eating out

I am preparing more and more of my own foods. We are using less processed foods in the process. Instead of buying a box of seasoned rice, I make my own. Instead of store bought canned vegetables, we are starting to can our own. Overall, it is a much healthier diet.

I do not like going out to eat nearly as much. I used to make excuses to go out to eat, now every time others want to go out, I find myself trying to convince them to stay in because I feel so much better when I know what I am eating is healthy.

While I would not say I LOVE working out, I am finding it less and less dreadful. I used to have to really push myself mentally to get up and complete a work out, now it is more automatic, I just do it. I know I am going to feel better after I do it, so while I do not look forward to DOING the workout, knowing what the end feeling is like is enough motivation for me to get me moving!

This. I used to make all my own food, then I had babies and got too busy. Then I got fat. LOL Started preparing my own food and even if I didn't count calories on this site, I think I would have lost weight anyways. Being a stay at home mom helps with creating time to do it.

Also, I love burning calories. I make a point to do something active just about every day. At first I did it for the calories, and now I do it because I like to.

Oh my gosh! Where to even begin?! Pretty much EVERYTHING has changed for me. Before I started this journey I was lazy, unmotivated, and most definitely unhealthy. When I came to the realization I needed to make BIG changes I had to change my entire outlook on things...the way I perceived food, exercise, etc. I tried nearly every diet imaginable hoping for a quick fix and when that never worked I pretty much gave up. One of the biggest things that changed for me is I finally realized this had to be a way of life and not just a diet. I had to start looking at food as fuel. Diabetes and heart disease are very prevalent in my family and I knew if I didn't want to end up with one of those I'd have to change. My eating did a complete 180 and I grew to enjoy exercise. I went from eating fast food and processed foods nearly everyday to making most of my meals and eating as clean as possible. Now I refuse to put any junk into my body. I learned if you eat crap you feel like crap. And if you eat well you feel well. I love that feeling!

I too never ate breakfast. Just coffee...
I make 95% of what I eat now. Rarely do frozen foods or processed stuff (even if I dream of Kraft Mac and Cheese at least once a week!)
I've scaled drinking WAY back even though I still do. Everything in moderation.
I plan what I'm eating instead of eating what I want. If I have choices I'll make the wrong one every time.
I NEVER sit on the couch with more than a serving of a snack. I was the queen of the chip bag before.
I now love shopping even more. And I rarely buy anything. I like the high of trying on cute clothes in small sizes and looking good in them!

I lost a job for the second time in twelve months, through no fault of my own. One day I looked in the mirror and thought I have put on weight sitting behind a desk being a corporate slave. I decided to claim my life back.

Now I go to the gym 2 1/2 hours a day, and eat better.

I used to snack so much that I was rarely truly hungry at meal times. Now I know what hunger feels like and really enjoy meals more.

EVERYTHING! Being an active person who loves to sweat and challenge herself physically... That is the new me. I also got rid of some really bad food habits over the past few years. I replaced soda with seltzer, made pasta a rare occurrence rather than a daily thing, I never eat fast food (used to be several times a week - Now it doesn't appeal to me at all), and I rarely eat something that's going to make me feel gross. I'm a different person than the me from 2007.

Losing weight isn't temporary, it has to be a lifestyle... I know it sounds cliché and everyone knows it, but it's the truth. You really have to embrace and nourish yourself as an active person who isn't controlled by food.
