hi!
i just watched a documentary called food inc. and it really disturbed me.
now i really want to eat as clean as i can.
i'm looking for advice from anyone that lives a clean eating lifestyle.
i am a junk food junkie in the worst way, so this will be a great challenge - but i feel better just thinking about it.
any help (recipes, advice, warnings) would be greatly appreciated!

It really is not as hard as it sounds.
It just takes planning like anything else in life.
I am in the process of eating healthier, I would not say it is 100% clean eating. I do eat more fruits and vegetables (organic) and my meat has always been from a butcher that does not gas it...so I know it does not have a ton of preservatives in it.
We eat chicken breast, pork, and turkey in this house and the occasional steak (one vice I can't give up yet).
When you shop in the grocery store it is basically the perimeter stroll rather than up and down a bunch of aisles.
The web has a host of sites you can go to for recipes. Some of my favorites are Taste of Home, the Food Network and All Recipes.
We also plant our own garden, which I know not everyone can or has the time to do.
Most people worry that eating healthier is costlier but actually it is not. There are sites out there that actually compare the costs of eating healthy to eating out sometimes to eating out all the time and so on. http://t.co/g3A3BO6H I am sure this is the link...
I hope this helps answer your question.0 -
I do the clean thing. Feel free to browse my diary. I'm gluten (and most grains), corn, soy, and dairy free (because of food allergies) if that interests you. I have some recipes there too, adding more all the time! Basically, I try too prepare as much of my own food from scratch as possible, getting a good box of organic veggies delivered to your home every 2 weeks can really help with this. It has forced me to eat better because I have to wash and sort everything, then plan meals around what I got, try new things, and do my best not to waste ANYTHING. I love vegan recipe sites like: http://veganyumyum.com/ eat primarily that way, and then I add fish, eggs or meat on my own. It's relatively high fat/low carb (except today, I tried buckwheat groats and put my carbs over the top for the first time ever!), and my energy is great.0
