Hello, I joined this site to help me keep track of my calories and keep me on track. I am trying to recover from an eating disorder and would love some input on where to find a meal plan or like an idea of calories to take in a day to healthfully gain weight and put it on as muscle, not fat... can anyone help?

First, congratulations on your recovery!!!! You will get lots of different advice, but mine is to eat lots of protein to help with your muscle. Best of luck to you and feel free to add me if you'd like!
Welcome!

If you are recovering from an eating disorder, are you working with an ED Behavioral Specialist? If so, you really should ask them to work with an RD who specializes in ED-recovery....0 -
Welcome! Congratulations on working to become more healthy. I would suggest bodybuilding.com. They let youi pick your goal and provide both meal plans AND exercise plans to get you there.
Worked for me in the beginning, now I mainly focus on trying to eat single item foods (clean) and lifting weights.
Hope that helps0 -
Way to go! You should be so proud in taking this step. Im going to assume you are under a drs care, I would suggest a healthy amount of weight training, and eating high calorie healthy foods that body builders go for like peanut butter, nuts, protien, meats, whole grain breads, things like that. It will take time but you will get there.0

Another good resource (that seems to make sense) I've found is Livestrong.com
You can ask pretty much any question and they pool online resources (that they reference if you would like to read further) to give you a good general answer.
My scenario: a 240 lb. guy trying to lose fat. They pointed me to a decent 1500 calorie diet, how to compose a good muscle building diet.. and I'm off. Lost 6 lbs. in 2 weeks. Granted most of that is from a crash diet but I'm getting used to the discipline, etc.
Good luck~!0 -
thank you so much!0
