This week's NSV

So I just had to share my best yet NSV to date. Last night at the gym, I RAN an entire mile without stopping to walk. Now that might not be a big deal to some of you, but prior to last night, I think the furthest I've ran without stopping to walk was *maybe* a half mile, and that's probably being optimistic. So I ran an entire mile in 13 minutes flat! And then walked for a minute and continued running the next mile, walked for a minute and then finished up a 5k for a total run time of 44 mins and 27 seconds (which includes a 5 minute walking warm up prior to running the first mile). So that's a big deal for me! (Especially since last week I was only able to run a quarter mile without stopping.)
One step in the right direction towards my goal of being able to run a full 5k without stopping!
What's your NSV for the week? Cheers! :drinker:

That is awesome!. Well done. I have a 5k race coming up this weekend that I have yet to run the whole way for.0

That's awesome. I've always been HORRIBLE at running. I've been doing all of my cardio on the Cybex Arc Trainers at the gym and I've noticed my ability to keep going harder and longer each time, so I'm tempted to actually attempt to run on a treadmill for a mile. Your post has inspired me to at least give it a try. Thanks!0

Best advice I can give is to start off at a slow pace. I've always thought that in order to run a mile, I need to be at like a 6 speed or something. But last night I set the speed at 4.5 and was able to hit the mile no problem. I figure I'll get my distance down running (or well, at the speed I go, it's more like jogging) and then work on the speed.0 -
I'm impressed, I can't do that yet! Great NSV!0

I've tried multiple different running programs and so far haven't really had success with any of them - I think because they are time based. Now I'm just trying to focus on running for a distance, and not worry about the time. Takes some of the pressure off and I'm less likely to give up and walk.0
