Two little red marks. :(

I've had stretch marks my entire life. I am a woman with very large hips regardless of my weight, so when I hit puberty, boom! I had dozens! That was ten years ago. I've grown to love and accept my silvery marks.

After almost a month of exercising and eating better (not always but definitely better), I found two small but obvious stretch marks on the lower part of my stomach.

I have never had them there, even when I gained suddenly. Why now, after losing seven pounds, after working so hard to maintain my nutrition and be active at least once a day, do I have them? I was so devastated last night. I stared in the mirror for what felt like hours.

:frown:

Stretch marks don't bother me.

New stretch marks, especially on my tummy which luckily until now has lacked them, makes me want to cry.

Why is this happening?!

  • Genetics, I think! (big pouty face)
Even as a skinny-bitty teenager, I had them all over my legs (not the kind from growing, I was already done!)

When I was about 15, I noticed I had a huge amount of stretch marks! I developed large breasts when I was 12/14 so naturally I got stretch marks there! I also have them on my love handles and on my inner thighs. However like you o got one red one on my stomach, randomly. It is now beginning to turn silver too. I don't no why o have it, but my younger sister has the same, so maybe it is genetic!

Anytime you gain or lose weight quickly stretch marks can be a result. Genetics do have a large part to do with those more prone to them than others. Topical treatments don't *really* help but healthier skin is never a bad thing. So if skin treatments make you feel better about things go for it. Staying hydrated, eating healthier are ways to help prevent them from forming although nothing is guaranteed when it comes to loss or gain.
Don't feel bad. I went from a large child to a thin ballerina and had stretch marks everywhere. Eventually they faded from red to pale flesh toned and weren't noticeable. They were kinda like trophy scars in a way, instead of an injury I overcame bad genetics and bad habits. :)
