New runner...help me veterans!

Hi :) I'm fairly new to running, but not totally new to exercise. I mostly did elliptical before (I won't lie...only every now and then...) but am getting into running now!

For all you seasoned runners, what would you say is a good distance to aim for for a daily run for a beginner? I'm not totally out of shape...I can usually go about 5 miles with a bit of walking thrown in, and will typically finish in about an hour.

For someone in my shape, what would you suggest as a "training" plan? I'm not looking to run a marathon or anything any time soon, but would like to increase my endurance and stamina. Any tips? Thanks :D

Since you can already make the 5miles, i would suggest trying to run the entire 5 miles without walking. After you've ran the 5 miles a few times, go for 6. When you have run the 6 miles a couple of times, bump it up to seven. I run distance about every three days. It's also good to do some other type of cardio like sprints, or jump rope, or inclines. If your running on a treadmill, i would suggest putting the incline to 1% every time you run. I do this when i run and it definitely helps when i get off the treadmill and run outside.
