I know everybody is different. And high protein in 1750 cal is totally doable for many people, but for me when I am on low carb, I have no energy or interest to run, jump or do any type of cardio. I feel like *kitten* by the end of the day. :(

I was eating a low calorie diet on here for 4 months at 1400 cal a day to lose half a pound a week. That was what the program gave me. initially I lost weight but then I had the most horrible pains after 4 months of this and was gaining a pound a month, and was constantly hungry. After years of this yo-yo dieting, I questioned "how could I be doing everything right, restricting food and be SO uncomfortable AND gaining???" Someone suggested up-ing my fibre and vegies. All i was left with was painful gas (which I have suffered from since I can remember because of slow metabolism) . Then someone said my body was in starvation mode. Then somebody said 'yeast overgrowth' and to cut out my sugar and grains. So I cut my sugar and grains and decided to cut my carbs down to 20g (mainly just from vegies and cheese) following the atkins plan. My life is changed. The first few days were hard, I used to eat SOOOO much sugar. I make the lollie bags up at work (retail store), I mean, I ate alot of it! Now I eat for examle asparagus omlette for breaky, steak and salad for lunch and tonight I am going out for thai so I will have a red curry( no rice) and some satay skewers. I snack on nuts, protein shakes, cheeses and cream. I am now eating 1600-1700 cal a day I'm not losing much weight, but I am healthy at my weight anyway, so I am toning up. I eat about 120 g of fat a day, and my stamina is on a whole different level. After 3 I was a goner back in my "bread with every meal' days. I tried to eat wholegrain everything, I have always eaten heaps of fruit and vegies. Nothing helped! I can now eat 2 cups of stir fried cabbage and have no gas at all! I am regular (sorry if that offends anyone), no pain and my body FEELS good. Pschologically, my brain wants the sugar rush, but my body no longer NEEDS it. Or bread. Or pasta. My skin is good, I am more focused, my hair is thicker... After 2 months of this, I have of course started adding new and more carbs everyweek. But I will never go back to eating food that made me feel so ****house. Initially I wanted to lose weight but now I don't care now because I FEEL good. Your body tells you when its happy. Please stop having a go at low carbers.

It is possible. I'm doing it. I have no problem staying low cal. My diary is set at 1400 and my daily goal is to be under 25g net carbs. I usually have a hard time getting all the way up to 1400, especially with massive exercise. Tips? Preparing 99% of all my meals from scratch :) Good luck!

Just worry about getting enough protein and you'll naturally eat less carbohydrates.

Remove this thought from your head - CARBS ARE THE ENEMY.

Your body NEEDS carbohydrates in order to function. It is better to consume complex carbs than simple (refined) carbs.

    ^^^ This

Also your brain requires 130g of Fresh carbs everyday to function properly. Your brain is the only organ in your body that can not survive off of stored fats.

I cry bogus on the 130g thing. I regularly eat under 130 carbs per day and my brain seems ok. Many low carbers actually do 60 grams or less for a year when they are trying to loose a lot of weight. If you don't eat carbs, a healthy body makes ketones on which your brain works really well on - better than carbs. How do you think the Inuits survived the winters?

If you cut your carbs, most people will also naturally eat less. That is why Adkins worked so well without the calorie counting.

As i said before I had these 'bowel' problems too. Cutting the carbs will most likely help. But also, if you go low car, under 50g, have some stock or add extra salt to your diet to help you feeling weak. UYou lose alot of water and therefore sodium too. And there is no need to cut the fat off meat under 50 too. You need it for fuel! (and its soooo yummy!, lol)

Tell that to the Inuit. And look up " gluconeogenesis".

    Education. It's a wonderful thing.

    What does gluconeogenesis produce?

As you said "Education. It's a wonderful thing."
gluconeogenesis creates glucose, which is used to feed your hungry brain, from NON carbohydrate sources. . . ie fat. So you get food for you brain without consuming any carbs. Which he was posting in direct response to "our brain is the only organ in your body that can not survive off of stored fats.", which, using gluconeogenesis, it can survive off of stored fats.

Yes indeed. The clue is in the name - glucose new born

There is no molecule in the group we call "carbohydrates" that the body has to take in as food in order to survive.

i am just wondering if i am a dreamer here.. i know that carbs are my enemy... and i know i want to be low cal... so i have 1760 calories a day before exercise.. but i want to be low carb too..

    100g of protein - 400 cals
    30g of carbs - 120 cals

remaining 1240 calories - fats and oils. No problemo. You can be low carb on half that calorie intake.

I'm on the Dukan diet, and have never felt better. Carb free for 3 weeks now, not tired anymore, my blood pressure is returning to normal for the first time in ages... and I actually fit into my clothes again.

I did the protein only for 4 days, and now alternate between one day only protein (loads of meat, eggs, yogurt, cottage cheese etc) and one day meat and veg, loads of salad and roast veg etc...

Its super easy, I'm never hungry, not tired, I exercise normally, drink loads of water...
