Hello! I was wondering if anyone here has ever done a detox - particularly not ones that you have to buy at a store but rather simply omitting certain things and adding others.

What was the program and what kind of results came with it?

Thanks! :)

I'm not a big fan of the idea of 'detox' as I think the liver probably does the work for us. But it doesn't do any harm to give our bodies a break and feed them plenty of fresh food.

I tried the Jason Vale '7lbs in 7 Days' book and, two days later, was considerably poorer (the cost of buying a juicer and fruit - amazing how much fruit and veg you need to produce a tiny bit of juice) and had such stomach problems (griping pains and, erm, loose stools!) that I gave up. The 3lbs I'd lost went straight back on within a day.

On the other hand, one of my friends lost loads of weight and brightened up her skin using Carol Vorderman's Detox for Life book (a 28-day vegan plan with lots of nuts, fresh veg etc). She's also kept it off and still does the 28-Day plan once a year.
