He's a jerk and like someone else said he obviously doesn't know anything about healthy eating if he thinks peanut butter is so terrible and you should just give up now!?!?!?!? HE is an IDIOT!
I eat peanut butter, LOVE IT!! It's good fats! I even bought the low fat peanut butter once( BTW it's horrible not worth it) if you look at the label you aren't saving that much in fat and I think it had more sugar or more sodium or something plus it doesn't spread!!!!! Don't waste your money on it just use the real thing or the natural stuff. I just made a really good asian noodle recipe that had peanut butter in it and it was sooooooooo good and it had veggies etc. So yes of course peanut butter is FINE as long as you don't eat the whole thing in one sitting;)

Don't talk to that guy about eating healthy anymore- he's very uneducated when it comes to healthy eating!

Good luck to you!!! Sounds like you are on the right track and know what you are doing!

Peanut butter is ALSO my crack! I have a spoonful almost everday. LOVE IT! Organic and natural is a "better" choice but don't let the ignorant rants of one ruin your peanut butter affair. Enjoy! :flowerforyou:

Some people are down on Jiff in particular because it does contain some added sugar (possibly high fructose corn syrup? not sure on that...) and possibly a small amount of hydrogenated oil.... I have started with almond butter which is pricey but super yummy :)

There are several varieties of Jif, the natural and Simply Jif varieties are lower in sugar. They've got the nutritional details for all their varieties on their website.

I'm a recent convert to almond butter ... I find I actually prefer it to peanut butter. There are other nut butters out there, haven't tried them.

If your addicted to it,you should def try a healthier option, they sell peanut butter called "Naturally More" the slogan on the bottle says "what peanut butter should be"...

When you first open it you will see the natural peanut oils floating on top, you'll need to stir it first...but the oils just show how natural it is,and it tastes amazing! Just like the good stuff your "hooked to" but It has more protein, more fiber, less sugar (carbs), No Trans fats and has Omega-3 with Fax seed....you should def give it a try :D

Give me peanut butter or give me death!

My favourite pre-race/long run breakfast is peanut butter on whole wheat toast, a banana and a container of yogurt eaten 2 to 3 hrs before I run.

I eat peanut butter every day. Look at my ticker.

It is important to measure it, at least until you get a real sense of what 2 T really looks like (with calorie dense foods, eyeballing can throw your calories way off). But calorie dense is NOT the same as junk. Nuts, seeds and nut butters are very healthy foods.

I have gotten into exotic nut butters lately. Pecan butter = awesome. Cashew butter = even awesomer. Vermont Peanut Butter Green Mountain Mojo (peanut & almond butter blend with pumpkin seeds and flax) = awesomest.

Sounds like he knows very little about nutrition. I say stick with your plan, keep on your goals and prove him wrong.

Peanut Butter is healthy. If you enjoy Jif then keep logging it and enjoy! It has healthy fats but careful if your counting calories as it is calorie dense.

Um...nice to know you believe in the unprocessed food is best theory. Better to know that you're recommendation sucks, personally experience based of course. There is no reason to be telling someone what to eat when you have no clue exactly what kind of Peanut butter the OP ate. Additionally, please improve on your English, grammar, spelling, and internet "awareness".

I love peanut butter, too (healthy fats!), but lately I have REALLY enjoyed almond butter as an alternative, and there is also the option of powdered peanut butter, which I just discovered and it is SUPER yummy, fixes my craving, and only has like 45 calories a tbsp!

Nothing to say regarding the comments.

But, I would suggest that you try a "natural" peanut butter with no additives. Better for you!

It took me a while to get used to the taste of peanut butter with no sugar added. I started the change by mixing some organic PB that my wife bought for me with some Kraft PB we keep for our children.

Now, the Kraft PB tastes like candy to me!

YAH What a rude idiot! I always stir some almmond or peanut butter into my oatmeal or have it with apple or celery, its protein. I would recommend switching to a natural peanut butter though (just peanuts.) Oh and believe it or not the natural organic peanut butter is soo much better than non organic for some reason

haven't read through all the replies but i love natural jif creamy! minimal (if any) yucky oil separation and you don't have to refrigerate! tastes just like regular peanut butter to me :) smart balance makes a good natural creamy one, too! and no, pb is not "junk food"

Peanut butter is delicious. I have graduated to natural peanut butters, ones with only peanuts in the ingredient list, just to help reduce the sugar and salt a bit. But it is delicious.

That was not very nice of him!

I think it depends on the peanut butter. Jif use to be my fav too, but I switched to Peanut Butter and Co., http://ilovepeanutbutter.com/ less fat and no corn syrup or hydrogenated oil. You can find it at Wal-Mart or local grocery store.

Peanut butter is my go to snack when I want something sweet and hungry after dinner. One tsp and I am good.

But as long as you are not eating the whole jar in one setting and being active, tell him to be quiet.

My favorite thing to eat is steel cut oats with peanut butter (I use Jif natural or almond butter), some protein powder, and cherries or strawberries. By the way -- I've lost a little over 100 pounds. Seems to be working for me.
