Going to bed on low blood sugar

Hi everyone,
I was at my calorie limit yesterday, and after dinner I was still really really hungry but I didn't go over because I wanted to be good. Earlier in the day I had had a massive drop in energy and had to basically sleep before I fell asleep at my desk. So I went to sleep still very hungry, and woke up about an hour later with a crampy stomach. I went to the kitchen and ate a few crackers and it got much better. Can anyone tell me if they have had this before or what its called? I usually nail my calorie intake every day with no problems and don't feel hungry after dinner.
Thanks in advance

That has never happened to me. How much did you eat?0

Yep, I got this when I was eating 1200 calories AND working out. Made myself sick, blood sugar was in the 50s and 60s (I'm NOT diabetic but I do have a meter), sweating and got so dizzy ended up at the doctors. I'm now eating many more calories and more spread out and I don't feel this anymore. I also upped my protein content significantly. You may be more sensitive to blood sugar changes like I am so losing weight rapidly may not be an option for you, it's certainly not an option for me unless I want to be sick and faint. Good luck!0

I would talk to the Doctor just to be safe.0

Yeah i would get a check up just to be sure,
Ive been playing about with alternate day fasting,
last food at about 10pm at night and no food for the next day, then refeed the day after.
I got nothing likes this from not eating just a little tired. Did you have a really high sugar load before the crash?
does not sound like a healthy crash.0 -
First, I agree with talking to your doctor. One of the possibilities, albeit unlikely, is blood sugar control problems (pre-diabetic).
Second, check your diet and make sure you are getting enough fat and proteins in addition to complex carbs. My diet was carb-heavy and I had some of the same problems early on.
Third, if everything is in balance, you might just need to up your calorie intake. I can't see your diary, but are you eating as per MFP's recommendations including exercise calories? If not, you might simply be hungry.
Finally, are you drinking enough water? These are also low-level dehydration symptoms.0 -
Thanks for all the feedback! I checked my diary, I ate all my calories including exercise ones back. I was only 7 low on fat and 12 low on carbs. I drank 6 glasses of water too. I work out pretty hard, kettle bell cardio sessions for half an hour every day, the bell is pretty heavy. I incorporated some boxing practice into the exercise and my HRM showed average heart rate of 127 and maximum of 166.
@Ouani your situation sounds similar to what happened to me. The workout session I had I went like mad and I felt like my dinner just wasn't enough. I've just seen my breakfast, lunch and dinner calorie counts were 671, 424 and 526 respectively, with snacks taking up 208. My daily allowance without exercising is 1350 according to MFP. If it helps I'm 6ft and 201lbs.
This is the first time I've ever had this, I really appreciate your help everyone :flowerforyou:0 -

1350 is awfully low for your height, weight, and gender. You must've chosen 2 lbs/week, which is often a bit high unless you're trying to lose a boatload of weight. Since you're only trying to lose 6 more kilos, 1 lb/week would probably work better and leave you w/more energy.0 -
This has happened to me a few times. I have had to get up about 1am to get something to eat as I knew that I would never get to sleep as I was so hungry. Now I have upped my calories a bit and make sure that I get a good meal around 6pm, it now seems to be OK. I think that if you are really hungry then eat something, it won't do any harm once in a while.0

I think I need to be smarter about spreading my calories throughout the day, you've all made some really good points. Luckily I didn't have a repeat last night. Thanks again for your help!0
