Upgraded from stock 6 sp Shimano 105 (1050) to 8 sp Shimano 1055 STI.

The front d (FD-1050), rear d (RD-1050), crank (FC-1050), headset (HP-1050), stem (Nitto Young), seat post (Sugino SP-K), and bar (ITM) are original to the frame.

The brakes (BR-1055), saddle (Selle Italia Flite Team), cassette (CS-HG50), chain (CN-HG50), bottom bracket (UN-54) and wheelset (RSX HB-A410/FH-A410) are not original but preserve, as much as possible, the Shimano 105 DNA.

Very nice. I bought a 1985 Cannondale new in 86; I can't remember the model. It came with a SunTour SuperbPro crank and I upgraded the rest of the componetry to SuperbPro - at that time comparable to DuraAce in quality. I wish I had that bike back!

1986 SR800 came with Superbe Pro. I've heard rumors that later 1985 SR500 / 600 might have been swapped out SunTour Cyclone (to further differentiate from the SR300/400) for Superbe Pro. Cannondale positioned it between Campy NR (crummy group, really, I think)/Dura Ace and 600/600 EX equipped models. It was a fine, fine group. Suntour just could never get the indexing stuff down, properly.

It may have been a 1986; it's too long ago for me to be sure. As I think about it I think it probably was an 86. I'll have to check online and see if I can find any pics, the fluorescent green get's one's attention. But whatever year it was, I loved that bike. Very quick geometry, immediate response to power, and speed only limited by the engine (me!) The Suntour indexed shifters did fine for me, great really. Of course it was all new then so standards were different. Coming from friction shifters indexing was such a great upgrade. But I always thought it was a shame that Suntour didn't make the transition successfully. Man, I wish I had that bike back. And my 1970 GTO while I'm wishing!

Edit: Hey I just checked your profile and saw that you are from Crossville, TN. I am from Murfreesboro and was there when I had the Cannondale, small world.

2nd Edit: I just looked online and found a site with Cannondale catalogs. I found my bike! 1985 SR500 in Sea Sprite green. Superbe Pro cranks and everything else Cyclone, which I swapped out to make it all Superbe Pro. Memories!!! I assume that your bike has similar geometry and such. That's a great bike you have!

I still have my Raleigh Tactic mountain bike from 1989..... solid steel construction ( none of that wimpy aluminum for me!), 10 speed frame, shimano shifters, neon green. Too bad I can't get parts for it anywhere.....

Yeah. I actually like Crossville. Great town for running. Not so much for cycling (people just aren't used to bikes around here)

That is my fourth Cannondale. I have a 86 SR300 (upgraded to SRAM Apex) a 1996 SR800 2.8 series frame rocking SRAM Rival, the SR500 you see above, and a 1997 R200 frame rolling in a mix of Shimano 2300 (Shifters), Tiagra (RD), and RX100 (FD). I have a Tiagra FD,but I like the RX100 better.

Hello, Hoping to get a question answered. I have the exact same bike (1987 SR 500). I'm actually trying to find the value of the bike in order to sell it. It's in good shape. Not upgraded as yours. Probably needs new seat and handle bar wrap. I've gone to bike bluebook with no help. Thanks for anything.
