The beginning of this year, I was diagnosed with high blood pressure and not even a couple weeks later, type II diabetes. I did end up going on pills to maintain this, but I was determined that I'm not going to live like I did and fall into doing the insullin. I changed my eating and started exercising more. I went on a 1230 calorie diet (while watching fat, carbs, sugar, and sodium). The first week of watching my sugar, she wanted to place me on insullin at night. I told her give me a week and as I check in each week, she keeps responding keep doing the same. So I finally made it back to the doctors this week and she was reading all my labs and radiology report. She was shocked when she looked at the lab, then looked at what I was at the beginning of the year. I have lost over 20lbs since then and all my labs were normal. She actually thought I was pre-diabetic while looking at why she was seeing me. She know is paying attention and wants my log of what I eat and exercise. Thanks to MFP, I gave her an average report of everything and she's putting it in her study. I didn't realize that everything dervises from food and exercise.
Just yesterday, I went clothes shopping, since none of my pants/shorts were fitting. I went to Fashion Bug, which many of you guys know there is two parts to the store (big girl and regular). I first tried on just one size smaller pants and was too big. My mom suggested to go to the regular side (reluctantly I tried on a pair there- which were big). I put on a size 14 and fit just right..... the poor people in the other rooms probably thought something was wrong b/c I was dancing and rejoicing. I have not been that size since I was probably 14 (18 years ago).
Now my only goal now is to keep this up. I love reading everyones accomplishments on here and with all the friends on here and facebook, I know I can do it. I love eating more healthier and make it my goal to find alternatives. I know I will probably fall from time to time, but I know the "way". It took so many years of trying a diet, but now I know I have the will power and the strive to make it.

congratulations! Very inspiring. I was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes about 5 months ago, and placed on Metformin, and have also been on bp meds for the past year. This is why I am now here...I am tired of taking the medication, I want off of them, and want to be healthy. thanks for sharing!

Congratulations on everything you've accomplished! I started this journey to avoid insulin as well. It's about so much more than that now. I wish you the best and thank you for sharing your success!
